Talon Crew Update Nov. 1, 2019

LAST CALL for 2019 Xfinity Birds of Prey Talon Crew Registration.
We are doing really great this year.  Down Hill Training 3 is now full and the race days have 10-15 spots left  We will keep these days open a little longer to accommodate the procrastinators.  All Course Support positions and Course Security have checked in full. We would like to close Registration by the end of next week so we can get credentials ordered.

As is typical with most years, we are a little light on the Course Build days (Fri. Nov. 29  to Sun. Dec. 1). Please consider volunteering during these days if you can.

COURSE UPDATE:
It's been winter here for the last three weeks, with Fall lasting all of three days.  We've have some very nice snow cycles and it's been very cold for this time of year.  Snowmaking operations are at full production and well ahead of schedule.  With Snow Control not until Nov. 22, I'd be hard pressed to see why we wouldn't make that handily.

The BOP Race Program is confirmed as usual.  We'll have a detailed newsletter out to all confirmed volunteers soon, but here are a few highlight changes for Talon Crew:
  • The Volunteer Party has been moved to Thu. Dec. 5, instead of Sunday, so that those who have to travel can attend.
  • The Volunteer Hospitality (beer tent and check out) is confirmed for the Park Hyatt.  It will be in the main building, using the door on the right of the east escalator.  It will be well stocked with sponsored beer and wine and we'll be staying open later.

Last call....If you are on the fence, it's time make your move if you want in !

Thanks for your support and we look forward to seeing you at the Xfinity Birds of Prey in Beaver Creek.

If you wish to be part of a specific On-Course crew, work with a friend or family member, or assist with Gate Judging during the race, please indicate so in the comments box on the application.

The application button is for Talon Crew On Course only.  Additional crews, such as Start/Finish Officials, Hand Timing, Race Secretariat, Food Services, Course Security, Medical, and Admin., have received a link to a separate application form that they should use.  All these positions are now full.

Recruiting Help:
Talon Crew represents the largest work force at Bird of Prey. We need to plan for the worst, but hope for the best.  The veterans of Talon Crew are the best resource we have to help with getting new people to join in.  Please feel free to share this newsletter and link with your friends and family.

As our many returning veteran volunteers know, Talon Crew is a fantastic experience and the races would not be possible without the experience and dedication you bring us.  The Talon Crew Team works very hard to make sure you have a meaningful, worth while and well organized experience.  We look forward to working with you again and welcome first timers to join in.
