Information Session

CoC staff will be providing an informational session for any new members or interested community partners on January 8, 2020 at 9 AM at the CRRL Fredericksburg Branch (directly prior to the full CoC membership meeting). The session will include a basic introduction to the CoC, current initiatives, and how to get involved in the work. There will also be time for Q&A. The session will last about 45 minutes with a small break before going into the full CoC membership meeting.

2020 Point-In-Time (PIT) Count

Each year the Fredericksburg Regional CoC conducts a Point-in-Time (PIT) count of all persons experiencing homelessness in our region. With the assistance of volunteers, we work to find all people in our region experiencing homelessness, both sheltered and unsheltered, on a given night in January. This data is used to understand our progress toward ending homelessness in our region as well as to inform decision making throughout the year.

This year's PIT count activities will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2020 and we are currently in search of volunteers to assist with administering surveys in the field. All volunteers will receive training on how to complete the surveys, so no experience is required. All volunteers must be 18 years or older to participate. If you are interested in participating, please complete the volunteer sign-up form! Please share this information with friends, family, co-workers, and anyone else who may be interested in volunteering!

For any questions about the 2020 Winter PIT Count, please contact Kate Gibson at gibson@gwregion.org or (540) 642-1579.

Make Your Voice Heard! CoC Strategic Planning Survey

The George Washington Regional Commission (GWRC) serves as the lead agency for the Fredericksburg Regional Continuum of Care (CoC), which coordinates homeless services for the counties of Caroline, King George, Spotsylvania, and Stafford and the City of Fredericksburg. (For more information on the Fredericksburg Regional CoC, please see our website here: https://www.fredericksburgcoc.org/) In 2014, the Fredericksburg Regional CoC adopted a 10-year Strategic Plan to End Homelessness; however, much has changed since its adoption and an update is needed to better reflect the growth and change that our system has experienced over the last five years and prepare us for future developments.

GWRC has been awarded funding on behalf of the CoC through Virginia Housing Development Authority (VHDA) to update the strategic plan. To accomplish this, GWRC has retained the services of consultant Amy Nisenson to help in updating our 10-year strategic plan. Amy has more than thirty-five years of nonprofit experience in strategic planning, board governance expertise, and fundraising which she brings to this endeavor. Amy serves in many different roles from consultant to Executive Director of the Mary Morton Parsons Foundation to active volunteer on many boards.

The first step in this process is for us to get your confidential input as a member of the Fredericksburg Regional CoC. We have attached a link to a short survey that we are asking you to complete. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/fcoc1

We need your responses by no later than November 12th in order to compile the results for our upcoming board retreat in late November. Please note, though the survey requests the respondent to include their name for tracking purposes, all information is confidential and will be submitted directly to the consultant directly. Individual responses will not be seen by CoC staff; CoC staff will only receive aggregate data and trends of responses.

We appreciate your willingness to assist and provide us with valuable input. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Kate Gibson at gibson@gwregion.org or (540) 642-1579 or Amy Nisenson, Consultant at (804) 307-4653.

Amidst your very busy schedule, we are grateful for your time and insight.
