November 2019

Bank

• YAB is hosting one final Money Matters Classes this fall on Saturday, November 9.  This class is just for teens, ages 13-19, and they can earn $10 into their bank account for participating.

Programs

• We are thrilled to announce that Allison Alexander Celmons, Winnie Hauber, and Emma Wahlgren will be joining the Young Americans Center Programs team as regular, not temporary staff!
• AmeriTowne just wrapped up a 6-week trip to Grand Junction!  After spending two days at Fidelity, it will head to Aurora the first week of November.
• There is a Girl Scout Badge Class on Saturday, November 2 for Daisies: Money Counts Badge.

YouthBiz

• YouthBiz is hosting an Accessories Galore workshop this month in the YouthBiz Lab on Wednesday, November 6 from 5:30 to 7:00pm.  The cost is $10 for materials.
• Congratulations to Gabe Nagel (Youth Advisory Board Member and Spotlight on YouthBiz Stars finalist!) and his partner Kellan Clapp for winning Burger Biz!  Their "Burger with Balance" will be the featured burger of the month at Park Burger restaurants during November.  Taste it for yourself, and Park Burger will donate $1.00 from the sale back to Young Americans Center!
• Young Americans Center is hosting the Colorado Uplift YouthBiz StartUp finale on Thursday, November 14 from 5:30-7.   Six finalists will present their business pitches for a chance at a $200 grand prize!

Development

• Please help the Development department welcome Melissa Englund!  Jody Phillips, current Director of Foundations and Individual Development, will be retiring at the end of the year, and Melissa will be stepping into the role.
• Thank you to all of the incredible staff members who helped at the Spotlight on YouthBiz Stars gala this year!  You were instrumental in helping this event raise $286,070.00 for youth financial education.

Miscellaneous

• Friday, November 8 is Jeans Day!  Please pay $5 (in support of our holiday family) to either Kelsie or Thuy.  Jeans must be free of holds and appropriate for work.  There's only two months left to raise funds for our holiday family, so this is a great way to show your support!
• Save the date for the staff Holiday Party this November at Voodoo Comedy.  The evening is from 6-9pm on November 16.
• Did you know that you can access important information regarding benefits, PTO, policies, and payroll at the yacenter.org Employee Site?  The password is Hr. 
• Young Americans has moved to a new server!  If for some reason server files don't appear on your computer, type \\yac-file01 into the search field to access these files. 
• The current wifi password is: Fall2019.
