New Rules Support WA Fishing Tourism
In an attempt to reduce red tape for visitors and enhance recfishing opportunities and experiences, the Fisheries Minister has relaxed the rules on who can store and cook the caught fish. Tourists staying in resorts or on fishing charters that provide meals and accommodation, will now be able to have their catch stored, prepared and cooked for them on the premises. Fisheries Minister Dave Kelly states "with world-class fishing experiences available along our coastline, we are reducing red tape to ensure our tourists and travelling locals can enjoy the thrill of eating their prized catch while on holidays". Woodridge Horse and Pony Club

Woodridge Horse and Pony Club - A Fantastic Year
Woodridge Horse and Pony Club successfully completed its second year as an affiliated pony club.  This year has seen membership doubling in size and eight members successfully tested in E, D, and D*. The highlight this year was the first camp event. The club was able to negotiate an amazing deal with the magnificent Brookleigh Estate. This encouraged the young people to get together as well as ride on the beautiful grounds. The club also visited the Belviour Vets and the Pony Club headquarters, where members got a guided tour around the facilities and learnt new skills that will be very useful for years to come. How old is Grandpa?
One evening a grandson was talking to his grandfather about today's current events. "What do you think Grandfather?" The Grandfather replied, "Well, let me think a minute, I was born before: television, penicillin, polio shots, frozen foods, Xerox, contact lenses and Frisbees. There were no credit cards, laser beams, drones or ball-point pens. Man had not yet invented pantyhose, air conditioners, dishwashers, clothes dryers, and the clothes were hung out to dry in the fresh air, and space travel was only in Flash Gordon books."
If your thoughts are, this message is coming from an old man ....you are in for a shock!

TIPS

Tips For A Cyber Threat
Please be aware that there is an imminent cyber threat that is impacting Australia. This threat has been called the “EMOTET” virus and will present as a Microsoft Office or .doc attachment, potentially asking for payment of a bogus invoice or credentials of some sort. This email could come from someone you know – the clue is that the invoice attachment will seem out of the blue, misdirected, incorrect or in the incorrect format / file type. To help prevent this type of infection please adopt the following habits:
  • NEVER open an attachment (not just invoices - ANY attachment) if it seems out of place, generic or unexpected. If you are unsure, call the sender to verify the validity of the attachment.
  • Check the Sender mail address as opposed to relying on their alias name  -  in other words, ensure the email really has come from (for example) johnsmith@companyname.com.au, not just "John Smith". You can doubleclick the alias name to reveal the full email address.

Whats In A Lie? Families are often concerned when a child lies, but lying is a complex cognitive skill and a milestone in childhood development. To tell a lie, a child must first understand that other people can have different beliefs than they do, and that these beliefs can be false. A child then tries to instil another false belief by telling a lie. Read more.

NOT-FOR-PROFIT LAW

Not Updated Your Constitution?
This does not mean that your constitution has expired or is invalid. Instead, the relevant clauses from the Prescribed Model Rules are deemed to apply if any of the Schedule 1 requirements are missing from your rules. The Rules Workbook is a step by step guide to help you review and update your rules to comply with the Act.

Have you held your AGM?
There are three actions that all incorporated associations and clubs must do every year within six months after the end of their financial year. These are:
•    hold an Annual General Meeting (AGM);
•    prepare financial report/statements which are presented at the AGM; and
•    lodge an Associations Information Statement with Consumer Protection.
The financial year for the majority of incorporated associations and clubs ends on 30 June so these organisations have until 31 December 2019 to meet these obligations. If the AGM cannot be held within the timeframe required by the Act an application requesting further time to hold the meeting will need to be lodged prior to the six month period ending.

The INC Guide has been revised making it concise and up to date. The Inc Guide includes chapters dedicated to Meetings and Accounts and Auditing to assist you with the obligations relating to holding an AGM and financial reporting. Other change of rules resources.
