"Rosendale, New York: a History in Postcards & Photographs"

Gilberto Villahermosa,  author and resident

On April 26, 2019, the township of Rosendale celebrated 175 years since its incorporation in 1844. It was internationally known for its natural cement, placing it on the map of major American industries in the 19th and 20th centuries.

Join us for a look into the rise, fall and transition of a dynamic town through postcards, photographs and readings from recently published "Rosendale", a Postcard History Series book.  Book signing.

Frozendale - Save the Date!

Sat, Dec 14
10-3pm

This year the town of Rosendale will celebrate Frozendale on Sat. December 14.  Here at the library we will have a wonderful used book and small gift sale from 10am -3pm.  At 10am we will have Holiday Stories for Children with Miss Pat.  There will also be free cookies!

Thanks to our friend Nancy Tuller we will have our usual hand-knitted items for sale.

Stop in and take a chance on one of our great holiday gift baskets.  The drawing will take place at 3pm.

This first month at the library I have been loving being in Rosendale and getting to meet many kind and interesting people at the library.

The library staff and I are responding to many good suggestions from patrons, for example, we started subscribing to the New York Times, seven days a week. We will also be installing the digital version onto our computers in the library.
We have moved the magazines from the back corner up to the front of the library where they can shine and be checked out, including the current issue!  We are also purchasing many new books and DVDs that people are requesting. The main way that we know people want a particular book or DVD is by seeing the number of people who have placed holds on the item through the library catalog. If you do not know how to place a hold, please come by or give us a call, we can even place a hold for you over the phone if you don’t want to do it yourself.

If you’re not sure what to read, we have some new reader’s advisory newsletters that you can subscribe to in order to find out about the most popular books in different categories, and you can place a hold on the books directly from the newsletter.

We have some exciting technology upgrades in the works including several new computers, the complete Microsoft Office Suite on all the computers, and faster, more reliable internet service.  It will take a couple of more weeks before this round of technology upgrades is installed so please pardon our dust, the wait will be well worth it.

And finally, check out our new website!

Thank You
Indigo Mist Books

We are grateful for Rachel Callan and her local business Indigo Mist Books. Rachel takes our donated and discarded magazines and sells them online. She donates the proceeds to the library.  She also donates a percentage of her business sales for one month each year.
