Generosity: The Life Cycle of Giving
"To Hold On, Let Go"
Rev. Dr. Mark Brewer
Matthew 25:14-30 & Luke 19:11-27
Greetings, NAPC Family!

We have come to the end of the fall Generosity series, The Life Cycle of Giving. The Generosity Team would like to thank each of you for your generous gifts and commitment to sow into the good ground that is North Avenue Presbyterian Church!

The themes of Sowing, Tending, Harvesting, and Sharing illustrate how your giving positively impacts the ministries at North Avenue, locally and around the world through our mission partnering.

If you have already made your pledge, we sincerely thank you. If not, we encourage you to join the chorus of givers who are collectively making a difference in the lives of people at this church and beyond. You may pledge online at www.napc.org/pledge or drop off your pledge card at the church.

We are so excited about the work the Lord is doing and we hope you are, too!

In Christ’s Love,

The Generosity Team
Marc, April, Erin & Keziah

Pledge Sunday - This Sunday, November 3, is Pledge Sunday, when everyone in our congregation will be asked to commit to their anticipated level of giving to ministry and missions in 2020. Our pledges are essential as church leaders plan next year’s budget and priorities. Collective generosity has powered God’s work on our corner and beyond for many years, and we are excited to see what 2020 has in store for NAPC! You may make your pledge in worship or at www.napc.org/pledge.

WE CAN’T DO ANY OF THIS WITHOUT YOU.

Help us plan for 2020 by submitting your estimate of giving. You can do so at any time online, or join us for our Pledge Sunday on November 3 at any of our worship services.

By supporting the ministry of North Avenue Presbyterian Church, you make everything we do possible from literally turning on the lights every day, to helping us embrace our core value of passionate worship every Sunday, to teaching the youngest babies that God loves them, to providing life-changing experience at youth camp to teenagers, to helping people of all ages grow more and more like Jesus through Bibles studies, small groups, retreats, and fellowship with others in our beautiful, diverse community.

When you give through North Avenue to the Missions ministry, you help support more than 35 partners, some right next door and some located across the globe. Together we are engaging the city, befriending internationals, and partnering with the global church as we seek to become a people embodying the presence of Christ among the materially poor, refugees, international students, and the church in difficult areas of the world.

Fill out your 2020 Pledge Card available throughout NAPC or Pledge online here today.

Guest Choir in Worship - North Avenue is delighted to host the Aeolians choir Sunday, November 24 at 11:15 a.m. in worship. Established in 1946, the Aeolians of Oakwood University present choral music repertoire from the Baroque era to the 21st century. In the summer of 2018 they won three gold medals at the 10th World Choir Games and overall championship for both the University Choirs and the Spirituals categories. In 2019, they became the first Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) choir to be selected from blind auditions to perform at the National American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) Conference. The Aeolians are thankful for ministry opportunities, and have been blessed to be called to minister all over the world.

Mental Health Workshop - Next Sunday, November 10, Cindy Circle is hosting a mental health workshop led by Skip McDonald, RN, certified Mental Health First Aid leader. The workshop will be from 12:30-2:00 p.m. in the Overlook Hall and includes an optional $5.00 lunch. The Cindy Circle aims to strengthen those ties between North Avenue people who find themselves in need of a support network. That need may have grown out of being single, retired, or an empty-nester which are just some of the elements that can lead to isolation. The Circle’s goal is to create stronger ties through a variety of events like this workshop. If you would like to come, please register by emailing kim@napc.org or by writing “Cindy Circle” on your connection card.

2020 Women’s Retreat: Forgiveness

March 20-22, 2020

Forrest Hills Mountain Resort | Dahlonega, GA
www.forresthillsresort.com

For an army, to retreat is to “withdraw from enemy forces as a result of their superior power, or after a defeat.” As a noun it is defined as, “an act of moving back or withdrawing.” Originated in the Latin, “retrahere” retreat is both movement and place, a seeking of safety and a finding of safe place.

This year, the women of the church (and their friends, sisters, neighbors) are invited to retreat to the mountains for a time of relationship-building and tender care while we explore a difficult topic in an encouraging fellowship of fellow followers of Jesus. We will be exploring forgiveness, considering it from the perspective of forgiving others, seeking forgiveness from others and forgiving ourselves.

For this topic, retreat seems like the perfect word. In order to have the space and time and energy to attend to the multiple layers and meanings of forgiveness, we need to withdraw from the forces around us that seem to overpower us, in order to be empowered by God’s Word to us. Forgiveness begins and ends with finding our identity within the heart of God. Come be renewed and refreshed in that identity.

New this year...payment plans available! Registration is NOW OPEN here.
