Eagle Public Library Grand Opening!

Eagle Valley Library District is excited to announce the highly anticipated Grand Opening of the Eagle Public Library renovation and expansion, located at 600 Broadway St., on Saturday, November 16, from 9:45 am - 5:00pm. Patrons can tour the spacious two-story building and use its many new and upgraded amenities. Various activity stations for children and families will be set up throughout the library. Light refreshments will also be available throughout the day.

There’s something for everyone at the Eagle Library! Children and their families will enjoy a dedicated area for interactive play and storytimes; the teen area has a gaming room, lounge and café-style seating; all patrons can play (or work) in the Spark Studio; students and professionals can collaborate in study rooms and meeting spaces. Upstairs offers a quiet respite from the more well-travelled areas of the building, an increased local history section, and a reading terrace.

At the Eagle Public Library on Saturday, November 16:
  • Ribbon cutting at 9:45 am
  • Doors open at 10:00 am
  • Storytime at 10:00 am
  • Cake cutting at 10:30 am
  • Self guided tours and family-friendly activities throughout the day.

Ballot Question

The Eagle Valley Library District is planning to ask voters for Gallagher Stabilization in the 2019 election.

What is the library proposing?
On the November 2019 ballot, the District is proposing an exemption from the effects of the Gallagher Amendment to maintain existing levels of service for Eagle Valley Libraries.

Why is the library requesting this?
Property tax assessment rate declines per the Gallagher Amendment will continue to erode District revenue for the foresseable future. This erosion will have an adverse impact on the hours of operation, services, programs, materials and staffing at all three libraries (Avon, Eagle and Gypsum). The Eagle Valley Library District is asking voters for "Gallagher Stabilization" - the ability to adjust the 2.75 mill levy rate to maintain current funding if the property assessment rate decreases under the Gallagher Amendment.

If 6A Passes:
The Library District can maintain current levels of service and hours of operation in the towns of Avon, Eagle and Gypsum. This includes collections such as in-demand books, ebooks, audiobooks, and movies along with programs for all ages including storytimes, literacy and afterschool programs, computer classes, book clubs and more.

If 6A Fails:
Library District operating revenues will decline and services will erode over time. The District will eventually have to cut library services, hours of operation, collections, programs for all ages and staff.

Meet Our Staff

In each eNewsletter, we’ll be introducing you to our amazing staff!
Hello! My name is Kim Saalfeld and I'm the Branch Manager at the Avon Public Library. I've had the pleasure of working for the Eagle Valley Library District for 12 years and it has been the most rewarding line of work I have ever experienced!

What I read: Well, I have spent a lot of recent months reading historical fiction about England, first with the Poldark series, then The Saxon series by Bernard Cornwell. I often read about WWII as well. Ivan Doig is a favorite western author, along with Wallace Stegner.

Hobbies: I like many outdoor activities, such as alpine and Nordic skiing, hiking and biking, and pickleball. I also love to travel!
