CMS is privileged to welcome an Eternal Flame honouring the families of soldiers lost in the First World War, to be displayed prominently at the event. The lantern, named “Maple,” honours lost Canadians. Its Eternal Flame came from Mons, Belgium, then travelled through notable war memorials in Europe including Vimy Ridge in France and stopping in England at the Shorncliffe Training Camp, where soldiers finished training before shipping out to the trenches of France. The lantern’s design incorporates a Canadian military emblem found in the remains of that Training Camp, and was made in the same design as the Olympic flame to accommodate European tours and travel to Canada. The design includes emblems found in the remains of the Shorncliffe Training Camp, where soldiers finished training before shipping out to the trenches of France.

CMS is honoured to have the historic Mons Bugle back at this year's event. It will be played by CMS's Hannah Brandly for the Last Post and Reveille. On this 100th anniversary year of the first Remembrance Day Ceremony, the actual Bugle that sounded the final ceasefire on the field at Mons, Belgium, which signaled the end of World War I will once again ring out.
