Principal MatthewsPrincipal's Message

We are so excited! Our Fall Festival is upon us on Sunday and remember that it is a required day of school for all students to be here. Make sure that you bring monies to buy tickets to purchase food and games. We will look forward to seeing you from 10:00-2:00 on Sunday (9:15 for middle and high schoolers). By the way, I’m giving everyone an extra hour of sleep this week before you come to the fall festival—ha, ha, ha! (Remember it is the daylight savings time change.)
Reminder that our annual Thanksgiving luncheon will be fast approaching on November 26. We are again asking that you pay $5 for entrance to our luncheon. I have three beautiful females and one handsome guy that will be preparing all of the food, so make sure all monies are turned in to your homeroom teacher by Wednesday, November 13.
Snow may be right around the corner. Make sure you pay attention to your LAA text messages or for earlier reports check the FOX and WAVE news for any closings or delays. Remember we do not necessarily follow JCPS closings or delays. Please continue to check your student’s homework assignments and please make sure with the younger students that they are getting in their reading time. Also, watch for IOWA testing results will be available soon. Blessings!
David Matthews

Announcements

Louisville Adventist Academy’s annual fall festival is this Sunday! This is a great event filled with yummy food, games, STEM projects, and more! Here are the things you need to know.
This is a required school day and attendance will be taken. Middle School and High School Students are asked to be available for setup at 9:15 am. Everyone else is asked to arrive promptly at 10 am and stay until 2 pm. All students are requested to help with cleanup.
If you don’t already know when your student’s assigned activity slot is, click here for the list. Please make sure they are at the right place at that time. Remember that students in grades PreK-5 must have a parent with them.
Bring monies to pay for games and food! Your student will need to purchase lunch if they plan to eat, and there will be some awesome choices! Also, some of the activities require a ticket.

If your student is graduating Kindergarten, 8th grade, or is a senior this year, missed school picture day or you are unhappy with their results, please note! Graduate pictures/retake day is this coming Wednesday, November 6. Also picture proofs went home this week. Place your orders online or turn in the orders to the school office by Nov. 15.
S. A. Bonfire
Mark your calendars for the 6th annual LAA Student Association bonfire, Saturday evening, November 16, at 5:30 pm on the LAA athletic field. This event brings together our school family with our community to worship, fellowship, and eat good food. Big Franks, s'mores and hot drinks will be provided. Everyone should bring both a dish to share (so we have plenty of food for our growing attendance) AND a lawn chair. There will be a sundown worship thought by Hans, our SA Pastor. Everyone is welcome!
Thanksgiving Luncheon
One of our annual LAA family traditions is our Thanksgiving Luncheon. All parents, supporters, and alumni are invited to join us for this special meal at 11:30 am on Tuesday, Nov. 26. The students may leave for Thanksgiving break after the meal and cleanup (around 1:30). As has become our new process, we ask all students (and everyone who plans to eat lunch with us) to pay $5 each to cover our food expenses instead of having everyone bring in food. Click here for the signup form or sign the one sent home with the printed Eagle Eye. Those forms are due back with the appropriate monies by Wednesday, November 13, so that we can accurately plan our meal.
S. A. Stronger T-shirts
Each year, Student Association designs unique t-shirts promoting the year’s theme. This year, the theme is “Stronger” and the tshirts will be here soon! If you have already ordered one or would like to purchase one ($12), stop by Mrs. Ruckle’s classroom or the S.A. booth at Fall Festival. The S.A. shirts may be worn every Tuesday instead of the LAA uniform shirt but must be worn with uniform pants. Supplies are limited!

Be sure to mark your calendars now for LAA’s annual Christmas Program on Friday evening, December 13, at 7 pm at Louisville First Seventh-day Adventist Church. Every student in grades PreK-10 will be performing in their respective choirs (a required part of their music grade!), and our high school drama team will be presenting some special skits as well. This is definitely a highlight of the season and a wonderful evening together with our families and the community.
Box Tops for Education
Ask your kids to help you watch for box tops when you shop. If you see a traditional coupon, please clip it and bring it in. Also, boxtops are going digital! For many boxtops, you can now download a Boxtops app, use it to scan your receipt, and your items will automatically be credited to your school! Definitely check this out!
