November 2019

Greetings Monument Bible Church Family!

November is here and it’s a month that is marked by many things—raking leaves, high school football playoffs, hunting, and of course Thanksgiving—what are you especially thankful for this year? In 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 we find (in my humble opinion) three of the most challenging exhortations in the New Testament:

5:16 Always rejoice,
5:17 constantly pray,
5:18 in everything give thanks. For this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus (NET)

Rejoicing, praying, and giving thanks is not the challenging part, it’s the words that precede these commands.  It’s the “always,” “constantly,” and “in everything” that make these exhortations so hard to obey. We all face days when rejoicing seems far-fetched, praying is forgotten, and thanksgiving is forsaken. May we be a church that rejoices, prays, and gives thanks every day and in every circumstance. It’s impossible to do this in our own strength but thanks be to God we have the Holy Spirit to empower us. We have a lot to rejoice in, pray about, and give thanks for at Monument and I’d like to highlight two specific things.
  • Director of Worship & Media - A few weeks ago I announced that we’re in the process of interviewing a candidate to be our Director of Worship & Media. Please continue to pray for the final steps of the interview and hiring process. Lord willing, I hope to introduce this new staff member in the next few weeks.

  • Baptisms - This month we’re going to have baptisms during our worship service on Sunday November 24th. If you’re a follower of Jesus that needs to take this step of obedience in your walk with Jesus, please contact Mary in the office who will send you a Baptism Packet or you may download it HERE.  Please return the completed packet to the office by Nov. 15th. I’m looking forward to giving thanks for God’s saving work in Jesus during these baptisms.
We’re got a lot more exciting things happening this month. Please take a few minutes to read through this newsletter to discover more about what God is doing in and through us as a church family. I want you to know that I’m rejoicing about God’s work in you, praying for you, and giving thanks to God for you. I love you all…serve Him well!
In Christ,

Pastor Jeff

Join for us on Sunday mornings for 4 Weeks!
Who: Adults and College Students
When: Nov. 17th & 24th, Dec. 1st & 8th
Time: 9:30—10:25 a.m.

Even when he was an atheist, Lee Strobel enjoyed the Christmas season, but after his wife became a Christian, Lee started to investigate the real meaning behind all those nativity scenes he had seen outside of churches. In this four-week study, Lee reveals what he discovered as he sought to
separate the holiday from the holy day, the facts from the fantasy, and the truth from the tradition. In each session we will explore:

· What the Bible actually says about Jesus’ birth and how you can know it is accurate
· Whether the Christmas story actually happened or developed from the myths of the day
· The Bible’s claim that Jesus was born of a virgin and why it is important to your faith
· How Jesus–and only Jesus–fulfilled hundreds of biblical prophecies about the Messiah

The Case for Christmas will invite you to look
beyond the familiar traditions of the season, challenge you to examine the evidence for yourself, and consider why Christmas really matters.

In October, a PUMPKIN PATCH PARTY was held at the Senkel Farm! It was a beautiful afternoon and great time of fun and fellowship! Thank you to Heath and Kinsey, and their team, for hosting the event and feeding us all! Here are some pics of the afternoon:
