Still time to save on taxes for 2019

For those who have 403b's you still have until about December 10th to cut your taxes for this year. Keep in mind you can increase your TSA contributions for one or two months and see a significant decrease in your taxes, while building your retirement that much faster. Due to the flexibility of contributions, you can increase and decrease the amount as often as needed, thus helping with both taxes and retirement savings.

Thank goodness I started saving early and didn't wait!

"There's always time to start saving later. " That's a common statement among those in their 20's or 30's.  If we wait until there is a "convenient" time to save, it will never happen. There was an article in a newspaper that gave the reasons people gave for not saving- broken down by age brackets:  Age 20-30- "I'm young, I have plenty of time to save. I'll start saving later." 30-40-  "I can't save now. I have young children. It costs a lot to raise them." 40-50- " I can't save now. My kids are in college." 50-60- "I can't save now. I don't have enough time. Besides we'll probably have to move in with the kids." What's amazing is the article was printed in 1937. The same wxcuses our grandparaents and great-grandparents gave for saving are the same we give today.
Fast forward 30, 35 or 40 years later.  Nothing much has changed. Sure technology has exploded, but so has everyone's personal debt. Take time to set a little money aside now. Learn to save rather than spend. Earn interest rather than pay interest. Like having a baby, there is never a convenient time to do it. Be like many who simply say " Thank goodness I started saving early and didn't wait!"In doing so you'll be well on the way to a comfortable retirement.

Grateful for that pay raise?  Now shelter it from taxes

Several school districts have either approved or are in negotiations for pay increases for both classified and certificated employees. Depending on your pay, this could mean hundreds of extra dollars each month in addition to "retro" pay. Taxes will take a considerable portion of the pay raise, so why not add to your 403b, thus keeping your taxes low, earn high er interest, and build your retirement savings that much faster? Do you know a school employee who isn't contributing? Let us know and we can help.

Earn a 5% interest bonus on each deposit for 7 years!

If you're not already getting a 5% interest bonus on your money, now may be the time to start. Introducing the Paramount 5 which credits you a 5% interest bonus on each deposit you make into your 403b, IRA ,ROTH, or SEP IRA. You will also be credited additional interest based on the S&P 500 and a fixed interest account.

Waite a minute
By Jim Waite

November is a time for giving thanks and expressing gratitude for all the many blessings we have been given. It's too bad that we have to have a special day set aside just to be thankful. I recently saw a  facebook post about "Black Friday." It said "Black Friday: When people trample others for cheap goods mere hours after being thankful for what they already have." Often times we get so caught up in the media hype and having to get the newest, fanciest, biggest, coolest, smartest thing on the planet that we often lose sight of  what really matters most. We often don't really appreciate something (or someone) until it  (or they) are gone.  I remember some 40 years ago when I spent two years in Bolivia doing missionary work. I didn't learn to really appreciate such "luxuries" as running water, showers, and even electricity, until I didn't have them on a consistent basis. When I did get any of them I was eternally grateful. It helped me to better understand those born and raised in one of the poorest countries in South America how they were actually "grateful" for many of the things we often take for granted. I lived for two years without many of the essentials, while they had lived their entire life without them. Since that time I've learned to be grateful for many things.  This past year alone has been a lesson for me in gratitude. I'm grateful for my health, my family, my son who was diagnosed with cancer over a year ago and is now cancer free. I'm grateful for divine intervention in that we were able to save his leg from amputation. I'm grateful for  my dear mother, who at 89 continues to be an example of kindness and love.  I'm  grateful for the time spent with my father and his example of goodness before his passing last year.
So with this month being one of gratitude and thankfulness, I would also like to thank you, my clients, for the opportunity to serve you for the past 23 years. No, this isn't a farewell speech. I plan to continue to serve you for the next 23 years (or longer, if   God allows it). Thank you for giving me the opportunity to help you save for the future,  cut your taxes and plan for (or currently enjoy) a comfortable retirement. Thank you for your patience when that loan didn't get processed as quickly as needed, your  monthly contribution came out more than expected, or I didn't return your phone call or  respond to your email quickly enough.
Take time this Thanksgiving season to discover the true meaning behind it. I think you'll find that the things that matter the most are things you can't buy.  Spend time with family and friends, reach out to the lonely, befriend the friendless and help the helpless. You'll be glad you did. And in the process you'll discover what really matters most and how to express that gratitude for more than just one day each year.

The best gift of gratitude

This time of Thanksgiving makes us reflect on those things that we're grateful for. Why not give the gift of peace of mind to your spouse if you were suddenly taken away. Life insurance not only provides a tax-free death benefit to your family upon your death, but also living benefits to you. These living benefits are yours in the form of retirement income, critical illness and long-term care. This is why it is referred to as "Life insurance that you don't have to die to use." Let us show you how affordable Indexed Universal Life can be and what a difference it can make to you and your family
