Your Plan, Your Future
Let's dig into land use!

The River Road / Santa Clara Neighborhood Planning Team is presenting its draft for review by neighbors on Weds. In preparation, CAC members Jon Belcher and Cameron Ewing will describe four different areas -- the Greenway, River Road corridor, major arterials, and low-density residential. Each area requires different development standards appropriate to its distinct character. Which transition strategies will help higher density housing fit in well? Height limits, setbacks, sloped setbacks, buffering with vegetation, and street frontage requirements all affect the feel and livability of our neighborhoods.

Neighbors will break out into facilitated groups representing each of the four areas. We will discuss which transition strategies would be most applicable for each area. Groups will report out, and then we’ll have a large group discussion.

We will share our information with the Planning team for potential revision of the draft.

Permaculture History of River Road
Tuesday, Nov 5, 6:30 at the River Road Rec Center, 1400 Lake Drive.
The presentation will feature personal accounts from guests along with archival photos of sites and events dating back before turn of the century. The History of Permaculture in River Road will describe an early work party co-op, before and now images - Jan's place, Dharmalya, Vistara, other property transformations in the neighborhood; early site tours, early PC convergences, Community Transformations, 2015 NW PC Convergence, Fall celebrations, Community Supported Woofers, Filbert Grove restoration, Resilience Festival and more.

This series of presentations show and tell what others have done with their homes and lifestyles, here in River Road and elsewhere.  All these efforts point the way towards a more green, resilient, healthier and preferred future. There are many reasons to produce more food, energy, water, culture at home - preparedness, climate change, personal and family health and well-being, reduce eco footprint and more.  Literally dozens of River Road residents have made and are making big changes to their properties and lifestyles.

If you have archival fotos of your River Road property transformation, send 3 or 4 pics to Jan to include in the slide show.
