Here's what's happening at McAlpine this week.

Friday - Spelling Bee (Spelling Bee is for participants' families only in D1 from 11-12 pm on Nov. 8th. Participants will receive invitation. Ask your student's homeroom teacher if you have questions.)

Monday 11/4 - 11/12 - Bring in books for Book Swap and 11/13 - 19th - Choose your new books! See below fro details.

Join us for our Eagle’s Night Out at Laser Quest! For a $5 flat fee, you’ll get a wristband to play as many games as you want depending on wait times. Parents and other family members coming but not playing laser tag will enter free! There will be a Hungry Howie’s food truck on site serving pizza and drinks. Cash or card accepted.

We need volunteers to help out at this event. If you're available to do a 30 minute slot or longer, please click on the link to sign up. Thank you!

The annual McAlpine Vocabulary Parade will occur on Friday Nov. 8th starting at 8:00 AM outside on the field behind McAlpine (families are welcome to come and watch). Students can choose a word (any word) and create a costume as a creative interpretation of the word OR create a poster to define or provide an example of the word. If your child creates a costume, please have your child write the chosen word on a small sign or poster so that it is visible as he or she participates in the parade. Students will wear their costume or hold their vocabulary poster during the parade (please send a change of clothing for your child to change into after the parade if he or she is wearing a costume). Please note that this is an at-home project. If you have any questions or would like clarification, please contact your student's teacher.

Join us Wednesday November 13th for the double header of Smashburger and Marble Slab from 4-8pm. We will need parent help with the checkin table. Click below to sign up!

Save the date! McAlpine is hosting a special event called “Math Matters” on Thursday Nov. 21 from 5:00-7:00 PM. Students and families are invited to have dinner and learn how to support their child’s development in mathematics. More information will be provided soon. It’s time for the first book swap of the year at McAlpine. For all those books that you have laying around that you loved, but have finished reading, this is your chance to swap them for something else. This is a great opportunity to clear those bookshelves and make room for new books. Here is how it works. During the week of Nov.4- 12, bring in your gently used, grade appropriate books. Then during the week of Nov.13-19, choose another book to take home. You can swap as many books as you want. It's FREE! All of this will happen during Media classes. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Lockso.

Each quarter this year, McAlpine will celebrate one of the four houses. This quarter we celebrated Fadhila! The students enjoyed a glow party to celebrate their glowing character! Check out www.mcalpinepto.org/resources and click "McAlpine Houses" for more information on the McAlpine Houses.
