Kāpiti Community Choir Newsletter

Hi everyone! A quick newsletter before we meet again tomorrow, to highlight all our dates and plans for the rest of this year - and tell you a bit about our adventures this weekend! If you haven't been to choir recently, its not too late to participate in our Christmas sings (we'll focus on the songs for the next few weeks), or catch our performance at Coastlands - details below!
PERFORMANCE AT CHARLES FLEMING

We begin our holiday celebrations with a sing at Charles Fleming Retirement Village, 112 Parata Street, Waikanae on Saturday afternoon. Arrive at 1.40 for a warmup and prep, we'll sing for about 45 minutes, then have a cup of tea with the residents, before going on to Adrienne's place for our end-of-year party.

8th December, 1.40pm
CHIRSTMAS PARTY!!!

After our sing at Charles Fleming we'll go on to Adrienne's house in Te Horo for a barbecue picnic party. More details to come, but make sure you put the date in your diary:

8th December, 3.30-ish onwards
WE'LL HAVE OUR USUAL (AND LAST) PRACTISE AT PARAPARAUMU SCHOOL ON 10TH DECEMBER
SINGING AT COASTLANDS

Our last sing for the year will be at Coastlands on Tuesday 17th December. We'll start singing at 6pm, so expect a call for around 5.30 to gather, warm up and prepare. We will sing in various places in the mall, for about an hour altogether. More details later, but add it to your dance card!

17th December, 5.30pm onwards

Featherston Festival of Choirs

Phew! WHAT a weekend! I was at the Featherston Festival as a singer, song leader of three choirs, and one of the organisers, so it was a triple hit for me - but I'm writing this report today with my "Song Leader of Kāpiti Community Choir" hat on... 9 of our finest singers made the trip out to Featherston to participate in this multiple-choir event, the first time KCC has been included in the Festival, which this year hosted 80+ singers from 7 choirs in the Wellington region. For our contribution, we performed Veluma Masina and All My Love I Bring To You, and then I taught All My Love to everyone, and it formed part of the pop-up choir repertoire that we sang in 2 venues on Sunday afternoon. I've been song leading for 25 years now, and the performance that those 9 singers presented on Saturday (to a discerning but supportive crowd) was superb (despite some rather challenging conditions in the venue) , and I received many compliments on your behalf. You did KCC proud and really represented our (still young) choir well. I hope we can participate in the Festival in the future, if it's run again. Participating singers will be invited to give their feedback to the organisers, but feel free to chat with me over tea at choir too.
NEW TERM FEES & CHANGE OF
BANK ACCOUNT

Thanks to the majority of our members who have paid their subs in advance for the rest of the term. This is reducing the work for those 'on the door' on Tuesday evenings, and shows your commitment to our developing community.

Please remember that under this new system of paying subs, if you've been paying the 'casual rate' of $7 per night, you can decide at any point to pay for the rest of the term online and it will work out cheaper - just ask Marj or Kimra at the welcome table on a Tuesday.

A reminder also that for new people, their first night is free! So this is a good time to bring a friend along to give it a try. They just sign up at practise & we'll have their name badge ready the following week. They can pay casual rate from then on, or do an online payment for the remainder of the term - welcome table will have all the info.

Oh, and should you need it, our new account number is

KIWIBANK Kāpiti Community Choir 38 9020 0752067 01

Local concerts coming up
