Statewide PCP Review Update

Dear Valued Partners,

In addition to confirmation that PCP funding will be extended 6 months to 30 June 2020, The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has commissioned KPMG to undertake a review of the statewide Primary Care Partnerships (PCP) Program.

The IEPCP Board consider this to be a positive development and we are keen to showcase our best practice examples of work with partners as part of the review. Vic PCP has also responded positively to the opportunity to conduct a meaningful review. See media release 16 Oct 2019

The scope is to:
  • Review the function and impacts of the PCP Program model in Victoria.
  • Explore the effectiveness of the PCP Program in a contemporary primary care landscape.
  • Capture the learnings from the PCP Program to date.
To inform the review, KPMG has developed an online PCP partner/stakeholder survey (that we encourage you all to complete).

To support your responses, the Statewide PCP Future Directions Summary, attached, provides the framework we have been working to, since 2017.

PCP partner/stakeholder survey for completion:
The PCP partner/stakeholder survey is intended for individuals and representatives of organisations that work with PCPs either formally (for example, under a Partnership Agreement) or less formally. The focus of the questions is on your experience and understanding of the PCP Program, and the IEPCP.

We invite you to take a moment to complete the online survey: Link to PCP partner/stakeholder survey (the same link can be used by multiple people)

Please note that participation in the surveys is voluntary and data will not be individually identifiable in any reports written as part of the PCP Review. The survey will be available to complete for a two week period from Friday 15th November to COB Friday 27th November.

What’s happening locally:
Whilst awaiting the outcome of the review and Minister’s decision beyond June 2020, it is businesses as usual at the IEPCP as we continue to work with you all on a range of exciting projects and initiatives.

Once again, a big thank you to all who have been involved in local advocacy efforts to support us secure PCP funding. Internal advocacy within your organisations, phone calls and letters to local members, articles in partner’s newsletters and the use of social media, has been highly successful in passing on our message to the State Government that we value working together to keep our local communities healthy and well.

Best regards,
Tracey Blythe
Executive Officer
