Register now to attend the 2020 LRE Forum!
The LRE Forum, Liberation Route Europe’s annual event, is now in its 4th edition. An important element of the Forum is the LRE Conference, with which we hope to inform, inspire and connect. It  reunites all of the LRE’s members, network, stakeholders, and the general public. We aim to give an update on the LRE’s activities, to inform participants about upcoming projects, and to provide interesting in-depth presentations and panel discussions.

The next edition of the LRE Conference will take place on February 4th, 2020 in Brussels. The Conference is free to attend and open to everyone. The programme will include in-depth panels and discussions about the importance of remembrance and memory as well as a keynote from Daniel Libeskind, architect and supporter of LRE's projects.

The next day, February 5th, the LREXPO will take place and provide our partners with a unique opportunity to showcase and discover the many European destinations sharing the heritage and experiences of the Second World War.

Europe Remembers on Tour in the Ardennes
The Europe Remembers on Tour project is back on track to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge. Fought in the Belgian and Luxembourg Ardennes during the winter of 1944-1945, the battle lasted for more than six weeks and took many lives on both the Allied and German sides.

From December 12 to 16th, 2019, the Europe Remembers team will take part in some of the many commemorations and events held across Belgium and Luxembourg for the occasion. Among other activities, we will participate in the annual NUTS weekend, join the perimeter walk and the official ceremony in Bastogne. We will visit historical sites in Malmedy, Recogne, Diekirch, and Wiltz. On Monday December 16th, we will attend the official commemorations at Schumann’s Eck crossroads and at the Luxembourg American Cemetery in Hamm.

You can follow our journey in the Ardennes via Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Remembrance tourism in Alsace
The liberation of Alsace began in mid-November 1944, 75 years ago. Alsace was the last French region to be freed and its liberation happened in stages.

Liberation Route Europe Foundation has recently developed new content related to the Alsace campaign and the liberation. Visit Europe Remembers website’s history section to read for instance about the liberation of Alsace or the Battle of the Colmar Pocket.

To know more about the historical locations and remembrance sites to visit in Alsace, we invite you to consult the new brochure recently released by LRE’s member ADT Alsace (Alsace Destination Tourisme). The document provides a description in English, French, and German, and practical information about historical places related either to the 1870 war, the First World War or the Second World War.
