Oral health resource bulletin
Oral Health Resource Bulletin: Volume 43 lists selected oral health resources on data and surveillance, policy, professional education and practice, professional-client tools, program development, public awareness and education, and systems integration. The resource bulletin is a periodic publication designed to stimulate thinking and creativity within the maternal and child health community by providing information about selected materials of interest.
Brush Up on Oral Health
The monthly Brush Up on Oral Health tip sheet provides Head Start staff and others with information on best and promising practices in oral health, current research, practical tips, frequently asked questions, and recipes for healthy snacks. Subscribe to Brush Up and find tip sheets in English and Spanish at the Office of Head Start's Early Childhood Learning and Knowledge Center

Deadline for Abstracts Extended

National Oral Health Conference Call for Abstracts
We at OHRC have submitted our abstracts for the National Oral Health Conference (NOHC), happening next April 6-8 in San Diego. Have you? The deadline for submissions for general posters, oral presentations, and the Monday roundtable has been extended to Monday, November 25. The submission deadline for the 2020 AAPHD Student Merit Awards is 11:45pm ET, Monday, January 6, 2020. We'll see you in San Diego!
 

Kentucky Organizations Work to End Child Abuse

Delta Dental of Kentucky Partners with the Kosair Charities’ Face It Movement 
In a survey of Kentucky oral health professionals, 60% of respondents had a patient they suspected was a victim of child abuse or neglect. Review findings in this infographic and learn more about this partnership to provide resources tailored to the oral health professional community. Face It offers a TEN-4 Bruising Rule to help providers learn what to look for in children ages 4 and under. Would you like us to feature a partnership in your state? Contact us.
 

Deadline to Request Materials Extended

Free Oral Health Education Materials from the American Dental Association
Tiny Smiles, a Give Kids A Smile® Program, a collaboration with Scholastic, is providing free materials to oral health professionals and others to help educate patients and families about oral health of children ages birth to 5. The free kit includes fun activity sheets, tips to share with parents, and a poster to display in practices/clinics. To take a survey and get these free materials, visit www.scholastic.com/givekidsasmile by November 22nd, 2019.
 

Federal Data Available

CMS-416 Dataset 
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released the federal fiscal year 2018 Form CMS-416 dataset. The dataset provides information on children’s receipt of Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic and Treatment (EPSDT) services in all 50 states and Washington D.C. This data is reported by states to CMS.  

HRSA Funding Opportunity

Postdoctoral Training in General, Pediatric, and Public Health Dentistry
The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) has released a notice of funding opportunity (NOFO), HRSA-20-005, for its Postdoctoral Training in General, Pediatric, and Public Health Dentistry program. The purpose of this grant program is to improve access to, and the delivery of, oral health care services for all individuals, particularly low income, underserved, uninsured, underrepresented minority, health disparity, and rural populations. The closing date for applications is February 12, 2020. HRSA will hold a pre-application technical assistance webinar, December 10, 2019, at 2 pm ET.
