Democrat Brownrigg is one of the top fundraisers in the race of five candidates for state senate district 13. His campaign ended the June 2019 financial reporting period with $460,000 in contributions. Brownrigg is a 10-year Burlingame City Council Member, two-term Mayor and served eight years on the Planning Commission. Under his leadership, Burlingame took the lead in the fight against climate change by issuing green bonds to reduce carbon emissions and strengthening infrastructure to protect the Bay from pollution, helped to ensure more affordable housing to help seniors, and retain teachers, nurses, firefighters, and working families in our communities, expanded childcare and senior care, and stood up to pass the city’s toughest ever gun safety and anti-vaping laws.
Brownrigg brings an unmatched 30-year record of local, national and international diplomatic leadership to the race for state senate. Prior to elected office, Brownrigg began his career working as a congressional aide for Democratic U.S. Rep. Howard Berman (D-CA). He then joined the Foreign Service where he served in hot zones like Syria and Hong Kong as a non-partisan U.S. Diplomat helping negotiate complex international agreements in Europe, the Middle East and Asia, earning several distinguished service awards. Professionally, Brownrigg is a partner in a social impact investment firm that helps improve underserved communities around the world. He and his wife, Marty, a pediatrician, live in Burlingame where they are raising their four children.
