After the Honeymoon

November 2019

Dear Readers,

Yesterday I saw a girl I hadn't seen since before her wedding. I asked the usual thread of questions including, "How was the Honeymoon?"

She said, "Actually, I've been depressed. We left Hawaii, arrived to cold weather, dead trees and had to go back to real life."

I told her "That sounds about right, you put all your effort into something and then when it's over there's always let down."

She wanted to know, "Why doesn't anyone talk about that?"

It made me think about the holidays right around the corner. You gear up for several months, and then it is suddenly over. There's a feeling of void and I think that's one reason we cram it full of new year goals and activities.

Does anyone else feel a post celebration slump? Is busyness the best cure? Is it too early to be worried about this? Is your turkey marinating yet?
