Don't let the super early Christmas sales distract you that it's still November, the month of the Holy Souls. It's a perfect time to brush up not just on the Church's teaching on Purgatory, but actively practicing it: offer a simple prayer remembering the souls awaiting their entrance into Heaven. It's very easy to forget them. But try to remind yourself often that they do not forget us.
Souls in Purgatory can't pray for themselves. They can focus their attention on others that need their prayers. Unlike any time they were alive perhaps, they truly experience the power of prayer. They know their helplessness. Don't you think that's going to have them paying attention to anyone who is in a position to assist them. That's us.
