Seniors Applying to College

Students on track to graduate with the NH Scholars distinction should promote this during the application process this fall.

• Highlight on your resume and college applications that you are on the path to graduating as a NH Scholar
• Consider institutions in New Hampshire.  Check out these scholarship opportunities.

Recognition for NH Scholars

High schools will receive the Year-End Report in January to complete by mid-February.  What to expect?

• Provide master list of your NH Scholars Class of 2020
• Complete online form with some basic class/school information.

• Original Core - Blue/Gold Medallion
• STEM - Green/Gold Medallion
• Arts - Black/Gold Medallion
• Multiple Achieved - Maroon/Gold Medallion
• Career - Red/Gold Medallion

Middle School Coordination

Student enrollment across New Hampshire is shrinking.  Which means we have 14% fewer students in high school today than we did 10 years ago.  Middle school enrollment is not much better.  Fewer high school students means fewer prospective college students.  Fewer college graduates means NH's workforce struggles to fill high level jobs.  The domino continues...

• It is more critical than ever before for New Hampshire to prepare each and every student for college and career.
• We need to ensure every student has the tools and skills to go to college (2-year, 4-year, certificate program, etc)

• Only 23% of 8th graders complete Algebra I.  We need to increase this number as this is the gateway class for high school students to complete 4 years of math classes.

• Host 6th and 7th grade information sessions.
• Invite a community partner or a high school rep to speak about it.
• Invite current high school students to talk to middle schoolers.
• Send home information to middle school parents.
