Our last newsletter incorrectly identified our Clubber of the Month for the Sparks Girls group. The correct name for our October Sparks Clubber is Anabel Cho. We apologize for the error.

AWANA at CBC has just completed our first quarter. Last week attendance awards were distributed to Sparks and T&T Clubbers. We thank you for your faithfulness, prioritizing your children's time in AWANA. Fifteen children and eight teens have perfect attendance so far.

Each Sunday night, approximately 30 adults commit their time to discipleship and mentoring an average of 50 children and 30 teens. Twenty of those teens commit their first hour of AWANA as student leaders, helping the children, before going to their own AWANA groups for discipleship. It is a wonderful, humbling experience to serve the Lord with such an awesome group of children, teens, and adults. God is guiding us in unity of purpose, applying each of our gifts in keeping with Ephesians 4:16! 

This year, our annual Manger Build has been expanded to be an entire Christmas Fest event for the family. On December 14, from 11 am until 2 pm at Capital Baptist Church (3504 Gallows Road, Annandale, Va.) families are invited to the indoor festival which features inflatables, children’s crafts, dazzling lights, a balloon artist, and much more.

Sponsored by the Capital Baptist Church's Children and Family Ministry, Christmas Fest will be a dazzling, family-friendly celebration of all things Christmas for kids of all ages. The sights, sounds and tastes of Christmas will be on full display with choirs, cookie decorating and many activities available for all and a photographer will be on hand to capture special memories in a live snow globe.

This event is free to the community and includes a light lunch for the entire family. Be sure to bring your family, neighbors and friends to this great event!

Thanks are extended to all the families who picked up Operation Christmas Child boxes at the end of AWANA over the last couple weeks. Thank you for your willingness to share a bit of joy - and the gospel - with a child.  This is an awesome opportunity to help your child learn about evangelism, in support of Samaritan Purse's effort to fulfill the Great Commission.  

If you would like Capital Baptist Church to collect your box, we must have it completed and returned by November 17.  The guidelines for preparing your box can be found on the Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child page.

If you took a box to fill, but can not return it by November 17, we will not be able to accept the box, but there are drop off locations throughout the metropolitan DC area that will be able to receive boxes through November 25.  You can find the location closest to you on the Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child page.

Operation Christmas Child ask that you please include a $9 donation for each box to cover the cost of processing, shipping, and Gospel materials. A great way to donate—and find out where your shoebox is going — is by choosing Follow Your Box and getting a tracking label (before you turn in your box).

Early in October we began our annual AWANA Global Outreach campaign. Children have already begun returning the tubes full of quarters ($10) to provide a child in another part of the world with the opportunity to attend AWANA for year. Our goal is to encourage the children to earn these quarters (perhaps doing extra things around the house or some other helpful activity their parents approve), so that they can personally make a difference in the life of a child in another part of the world. In addition to helping spread the Gospel, Sparks will earn a patch for their uniform and T&T will be half-way complete with their requirement (see page 7 of the T&T handbook for more info).
