Small Change, Better World provides seed grants for one-time, limited scope projects that address a specific need in a local or an international setting.  Funded projects must require less than $3,000 and be achievable within a short period of time, such as a quarter or semester. The UCDC Summer Internship Program sends 40 to 50 undergraduate students to live and intern in Washington, D.C. for 10 weeks each summer.  Students have the opportunity to live and take classes at the UC Washington Center and examine the behind-the-scenes activities that shape our nation’s future.

Big Ideas Competition

Big Ideas is an annual contest aimed at providing funding, support, and encouragement to teams of students who have “big ideas.” The competition is designed as a year-long process. 2019 Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week 
Nov 14-24 
Join various campus units and student groups to learn about the ways the UCI community will continue to support and advocate for basic needs such as housing and food security. This week-long initiative will include food drives, displays, and outreach events to highlight both on- and off-campus resources.

The massive open online course (MOOC) on Environmental Security and Sustaining Peace provides an introduction to the roles that the environment plays in the onset and recovery from violent conflicts. These approaches are also relevant to understanding social conflicts around natural resources.

About the Blum Center for Poverty Alleviation

The Blum Center aims to enable a new generation of students and researchers to ask and address critical questions about development that are key prerequisites to devising effective and innovative approaches to alleviating contemporary poverty both locally and abroad. The Center was launched at UC Irvine as part of a larger consortium of Blum Centers across the University of California campuses.
