AGM 17th November 2019 - 10am Stewartby Social Club

Just a reminder that there will be the AGM of the Stewartby Bowls Club10am Sunday November 17th at the Stewartby Social Club.

The format of the meeting will be similar to previous years, but I would like more support for new committee members this year especially where the current committee double up on their current jobs.

If you would like to put your name forward, please contact me.

Kind Regards

Keith Jones
Secretary - Stewartby Bowls Club.

Below are the minutes of the last AGM for your reference.

Minutes of Stewartby Bowls Club A.G.M. held on 18th November 2018
.

The meeting opened with Keith Jones in the chair who welcomed the 20 members present and thanked them for attending.

Apologies:       Mick Adams. June Campion. Richard Hawkins. Sally Law.

There were no matters arising from the previous A.G.M.

Chairpersons Report:    Brett Burnage read out a letter from Sally (chairperson) which thanked all the committee and members for their support during a very difficult season.  She also talked about her husband David who sadly had passed away recently, who had been a member of the Club for 37 years.  The meeting was informed that Davids’ funeral would be on 4th December at 11.30 a.m. at Bedford Crematorium.
Sally also reported that the Pavilion is finished and we hope to have access by February 2019.  The green has had no work carried out on it to date and is in rather a poor state.
Keith Jones then thanked all the members for their support in making the club work over the past season.

Secretarys Report:   Keith Jones said that the Club web site is still up and running and would have some further work done in the near future.

Treasurers Report:    Brendan distributed a copy of the accounts to members present.
Total Income - £10,1899.91.  Total Expenditure -  £5,690.91.  Bank Balance at 8th November 2018 –
£11,094.31.    It was noted that the income figure included an interest free loan of £3,000 from Bowls Bedfordshire.

Club Captains Report;   Brett thanked everyone for their support, and said we should be playing on our own green next season.

Over 60’s Captains Report:   Janice thanked every one for their support. 17 games had been scheduled and 14 played.

Indoor Captains Report:  Richard wasn’t at the meeting, but he is still willing to arrange these matches.   Members thanked Richard for continuing to do this.

Bedford Bowls League (Monday Night Triples)
“A” Team captain Mick Sullivan said he had struggled to get teams, but hopefully new members will come along.
“C” Captain Robbie Hawes thanked everyone for their support, and said that all clubs had been very helpful.  We will continue with two teams for the 2019 season.

Green Rangers Report:  Turf Care have discontinued treating our green, the reason being due to the building work they have been unable to have access to the green.  They have sent a list of “winter treatment” needed to treat the green.  The Committee are in the process of trying to find another company to carry out green maintenance.

Progress of Pavilion:     We still have no access to the Pavilion, as this area is still classed as a building site.    Robbie and Sally have been in and said there is a lot of work to be done on and around the green.  Martin Greener is to enquire about the servicing of the mower purchased by the club.

A.O,.B.   Tony Jackson thanked all officers for the work they have done over the past season.

In view of the fact that the ladies do not have access to as many matches as the men their membership fee for 2019 will be £56.

Martin asked if a list of names, telephone numbers and email addresses could be made available, Keith Jones is to arrange this.

There being no other business to discuss, the meeting closed at 11.00 a.m
