Parent Connection

Our Parent Connection Group meets at 9:00am (during the Sunday School hour) in the Fellowship Hall one Sunday each month to share a cup of coffee, good conversation, and the chance to connect with other parents in the church. This group is for moms and dads of kids in Sunday School or younger. It will be a relaxing way to meet people ... and breakfast is provided! We'll also hear a brief encouraging message related to parenting. Our next meeting is this Sunday, November 17, at 9:00am in the Fellowship Hall. For more information, contact Liz Lund.
Fall Sermon Series

We recently celebrated 125 years of God's faithfulness in ministry here at RECC. What will the future look like? What kind of church do we want to be? The Leadership Council is casting a vision for what that future would look like ... what kind of church we want to be. Pastor Steve will be preaching through that vision on Sunday mornings this Fall and we hope you'll be here!
Prayer Update

Bill Peterson had heart surgery on Monday evening in Grand Forks. I'm happy to report he is doing very well and is planning to come home today! We are grateful to God for the good news! Please continue to pray for Bill as he recovers and for both Bill and Gayle to have peace during the rehab process.

F.U.E.L. Youth Ministries (grades 7-12)

Tonight at FUEL we are trying something new! At dinner (begins at 6:30pm) we will have a table or two dedicated to those who want to continue our discussion from last week on depression. Then after dinner we take a field trip to Heaven. Bring your best heaven questions, the ones you have been really wanting to ask someone and the leaders will help shed some light on these questions. Remember to bring a friend and join us for FUEL!

This Saturday, November 16th we are meeting at RECC at 3:00pm to go on a scavenger hunt to collect food for the Roseau Food Shelf as they prepare for Thanksgiving. We will end with some ice cream at RECC. Parents can pick up their student at 5:00pm at RECC. Let’s show the hope and love of Jesus this Thanksgiving season by helping the food shelf provide nourishment to the families in our community that need help.

Sunday School has a deep tradition at RECC. Our church began with one man picking up kids for Sunday School using his oxen and cart so they could hear the message of God’s love for them.  As we celebrate God’s faithfulness in the past, we look forward to all that God continues to do through RECC. We have a great year ahead of us! Sunday School is a great time to connect with other families and hear about how much God loves you, a message for all ages and for all times! See you this Sunday!

Adult Sunday School Class

Are we sure that the God we serve is the God described in Scripture? Is rethinking
Him biblically really necessary? How do we do it? How would it affect our views of
Christ, the gospel, holiness, worship, evangelism, service and revival? Behold Your
  God: Rethinking God Biblically
by Dr. John Snyder is a 13-week multimedia study that
focuses on God’s self-revelation in the Bible, helping the believer to apply the
descriptions of God to all of life. During the week, you'll work through the
workbook (five days per week) in preparation for watching the DVD on Sunday.

Many in our day are tired and disillusioned because they have consistently hoped in the next new idea. It is just this kind of day that makes Christians stop running on their religious hamster-wheels and ask “Why are we doing these programs?” and “Why doesn’t God ever really seem to show up and effectively work in our churches?” Hard questions often lead to right answers. This study is written with the conviction that our fundamental need in Western Christianity is to repent of our low and unworthy views of God, to return to the biblical descriptions of the true God, and to risk it all in order to live upon Who He is. Nothing in this study is new truth. The devotions and exercises in the workbook, and the intros, sermons, and interviews in the videos are meant only to help the reader to take the biblical descriptions of God seriously and to see how they form the foundation of Christian living.

The Adult Sunday School class meets each Sunday morning at 9:00am in the Sanctuary. Workbooks are available for $15. For more information, contact Darrin Smedsmo.

Mandatory Training for Children/Youth Ministry Volunteers

All volunteers working with children or youth must complete the online training course. If you are a volunteer and have not received an email with a link to the online training video, please check your email's junk folder or contact Pastor Kecia.

Operation Christmas Child is in Full Swing!

Operation Christmas Child, a ministry of Samaritan’s Purse, seeks to share the hope and love of Jesus by collecting shoeboxes filled with toys, hygiene items, school supplies and other small gifts for children around the world. Everyone is encouraged to participate by filling a shoebox, donating toward shipping fees, or bringing a toy or hygiene item. Due to changes in shipping regulations, we are unable to include toothpaste, candy or gum in the shoeboxes. All shoeboxes must be shoe size, NOT boot size. Please include a $5 donation toward shipping for each shoebox you pack (please put the $5 in the container in the church lobby - not in the shoe box). Pick up your OCC shoebox in the lobby today! Donations may be placed on the table in the lobby as well. Shoeboxes are due November 24. Contact: Kathy Brandt, 218.452.3018.
Roseau Manor Bingo in December

Four volunteers are needed each week to play Bingo with the residents of Roseau Manor each Friday at 2:00pm on December 6, 13, 20 and 27. This is a fun way for individuals and families to share the love and hope of Jesus with seniors in our community. The sign-up sheet is in the lobby. For more information, contact pastor steve.
Update on Missionary Aaron Krahn

Aaron Krahn, missionary with Avant Ministries, has moved overseas to work with a  church-planting team in Messina, Sicily. For the next two years, he will
be living in Italy, bringing salt and light to the people there and taking part in the growth  of a new church. His team has a unique connection within the city,  as they have formed relationships with baseball and softball teams in the area. Aaron  is excited to use his knowledge and passion for baseball to build friendships with  people and share with them the
 good news of the Gospel.
