Thanksgiving Basket Project

Westside CARES will be providing Thanksgiving baskets to families on the west side of Colorado Springs. To help with this project, PPMCC has been asked to donate 80 cans of Fruit, 20 Large/60 Small, (think canned fruit cocktail, mandarin oranges, peaches, etc. and NOT cranberries), and 1-4 Turkeys or Hams for the baskets.

Can't make it to the store?  Give a $ donation to Trudy Welsh or Bea in the office, and they will make a purchase for you.

COMMUNITY PARTNER EVENTS

Recover the Fun

Wednesday, November 20, 6 - 8 PM
PPMCC Social Hall

Recover the Fun groups are centered on the creative arts and the outdoors and are designed to remind us that fun can be had without the use of substances.

The purpose of the group is to provide a relaxed, friendly, and fun environment where we connect to each other and ourselves - because part of the work of recovery is relearning how to have fun.  Recover the Fun meets every third Wednesday of the month in PPMCC's social hall, with the next meeting on November 20th.  E-mail Rachel Fowler for more information or text her at 719-398-1317.  RSVP is requested so that there will be adequate supplies for all.

One Colorado's Initiatives for Ending LGBTQ Workplace Discrimination

We at One Colorado want to lift up the voices of LGBTQ people who have been fired, harassed, denied a promotion, or not hired because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

In October, the Supreme Court heard arguments surrounding three cases of LGBTQ employment discrimination. It is currently up for debate in the highest court in the land, whether LGBTQ workers are protected under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. We want to send a message to the Supreme Court that being fired for who you love or how you identify is not okay.

If this is something you believe in, please add your name to One Colorado's Title VII People's Brief.  And if you have witnessed or experienced employment discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity, we want to hear your story. These real life examples demonstrate that LGBTQ employment discrimination does happen and it needs to stop.
