Dear <<First Name>>,

Thank you all so much for visiting Gayle in Kumeu. She and Andrea had a ball! The winner of the draw for a $50 voucher is Lois!

Gayle and I are heading for the Australian Quilt Market tomorrow. It is much, much smaller than the American one but well worth attending. If you can keep a secret, Gayle and I are taking an extra 4 days off to visit our favourite antique emporium etc. Goodness I could open an emporium with the stuff I have bought in antique and charity shops around the world but I might be able to fit a few more bits in.

My singing group, Cathedral Singers, have begun our Christmas presentation - very ambitious including part of Handel’s Messiah. It really brings home the need to get going with Christmas placemats, table runners and gifts. There is a bit of time left yet and I will have a new runner finished this week so watch Facebook! This runner can be made in a day and I always choose a beautiful collection. I have added placemats and they are proving very popular and again very quick and easy. I have some sets heading overseas this year.

New this week

Tiles
These coasters have been so popular as they are a very reasonably priced gift. We have received some new designs. They can be sold singly or as a presentation box of four.

Point 2 Point turner from Clover

We just have a couple of these at present but can have more within 2 weeks.
The best idea I think is to send you to a Youtube tutorial.

Then you will know if this is going to be useful for you.

Memories of Paris
The first six fabrics are lawns and very like Liberty lawns but they are from Lecien in Japan. They have a lovely feel and they have very pretty floral designs Just like Liberty. We have six of these and you will find them on our website.  Click here, AG637-AG642.

Memories of Paris second selection
This one is also from Lecien but it is a slightly different texture (double gauze) and more like our normal weight cottons.

It is just so pretty with a soft lemon background and very blue and cream flowers. I just love the way Japanese printers get such subtly of colour. Click here for this double gauze.

Batiks, Batiks, Batiks
We have seven new and beautiful hand painted batiks. Any of these would be perfect if you are going to be attending Maryann’s foundation piecing class next year. Any of them could be your theme fabric and you would just pull colours from it for the rest of the body of your quilt. One of the fabrics is in jewel teals, blues and purples and has hand painted peacocks. The same design appears in two other colourways. The other designs are leaves. You will find these on our website, AG643-AG649.

For our whole range of Batiks click here.

White
We never seem to have enough white on white fabrics so here are four new bolts. It is difficult to see the designs on your screen. We can send you samples if you cannot get to the shop. We can actually send you a sample of anything we have in the shop if you are specific about the colour to match or you can send us samples of what you are using and we can match up for you here.  Click here to view, AG655-AG661.

That’s about it for this week.

Until next week from Melbourne,

Hazel

P.S. Here is a midweek family dinner recipe for Meat Rolls which was nice.

This all goes into the food processor.

1 kg meat (This can be a mixture of sausage, beef mince, pork mince etc. I included a big chunk of salami)
1 onion
2 cloves garlic
fresh herbs
2 eggs
1 cup breadcrumbs (2 slices of bread)
2 teaspoons salt

Process this and form into a rectangle like a swiss roll on some glad wrap.

Lay a few slices of ham and a few slices of cheese on this. You could also add some spinach leaves. Roll it up and tightly as you can and refrigerate.

Lay out about 10 slices of streaky bacon, lay your meat roll on this and roll it up again so the meat roll is wrapped in bacon. Cover and seal in tin foil. Bake at 180 degC (350 degF) for 45 minutes. Open the foil, raise oven temp to 190 degC, return the roll to the oven until the bacon is crisping - about a half hour. This is also nice served cold so could be a good lunch box item.
