Maldon & District Financial Services

"Proudly Supporting our Communities"

Community News

We live in a great part of the world, and the recent Mount Alexander Business Awards showcased some of the amazing people behind some very innovative and effective small businesses; where bold people have identified a gap in the market and offered something new.

Our Community Bank is also a small business, and we realise the value of local people providing local solutions. Well done to all the other local businesses providing local products and services.

Happy Christmas and all the best to finish off another big year in style.

Dunolly District Hospital Auxiliary
Red Cross Garden Project

$150K Grants Program - Project Update

The reconstructed Red Cross Garden at the Dunolly Hospital was formally “opened” in mid November.
Two original decorative steel hoops from 1959 are delightfully re-purposed for the arched walkway.
The ornamental vines are already thriving and will cover the structure in a few years.
Read all about it in the 13th of November issue of The Welcome Record.

Mt Alexander Timber & Hardware

Huge congratulations to Mt Alexander Timber & Hardware for winning the Retail and Hospitality category we sponsored at the recent Mount Alexander Business Awards ceremony- and even better, they also won Business of the Year!!

The judges were impressed with the team's quality of business planning, methodical execution, and great level of practical support for the community - and so are we.

What a fine example of the type of small business we love to supportwell done team!

🏏🏏Newstead Community Cricket Day
with Brad Hodge🏏🏏

It was a fantastic day at the Newstead Recreation Reserve in mid November with the Newstead Cricket Club hosting Muckleford and Brad Hodge for a day of great cricket. The gold coin entry raised almost $1000 for a new cricket pitch at Newstead School!!

We were proudly (and excitedly) one of the event sponsors. Now that's community in action. Well done everyone - it was a cracker of a day!

Preventing Fruit Fly

Volunteers from the Harcourt Valley Fruit Fly Action Group handed out 50 free fruit fly traps to home gardeners at last week's Castlemaine Farmers Market Weekly (CFMW).

We were pleased to fund this initiative as Mount Alexander Shire is still relatively fruit fly free (with only a couple of confirmed sightings in Maldon and Harcourt so far). The longer we can keep it that way, the better!

The group will be at the CFMW on Wednesday 18th December if there are any traps left, so head to the market to get your free trap plus instructions on how to use it effectively.

The big trap hand-out follows on from fruit fly workshops held recently in Maldon, Newstead and Castlemaine by Mount Alexander Shire Council, who also have more information available on their website

Times they are a changin'

Last month we said goodbye to Sean our Lending Manger - he has been with us since 2013 and has moved on to the Daylesford District Community Bank Branch.

Katie and Tash are leaving this month. Tash is heading off for a year on maternity leave and we couldn't be more excited for Tash and her family!

Katie who has also been with us since 2013, left the branch last year to take up the Communications role for the board. She is moving on to an exciting new role at the Bendigo Bank Head Office.

Wishing all of you the best in your differing journeys. (Handy that we had a photo of the three of you from a few years ago!)

Happy Birthday Jan!

Our wonderful Jan had a big birthday at the end of November.
We celebrated with a delicious cake made by Natasha.
