Meet The Team - Tech Support
"I was born and raised in Masterton. I completed my schooling at Makoura college and I spent the next couple of years working at New World in the Cold Shelf/Freezer department. I always had a passion for technology and decided to further my education by doing a Diploma in Computer Servicing. I quite enjoyed that, but I also picked up some scripting skills and decided to take it further by completing a degree. At the end of 2017 I graduated from Weltec with a Bachelor of Information Technology majoring in Software Engineering.

I started at Harvest in late 2018, working closely with councils and resource consent holders to help customers get their data through to the council regularly and remain compliant. Other things I am responsible for is writing control logic for pumps/irrigators and keeping internal support tools up to date. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family, winding down with some video games or a film and writing some code to keep my programming skills sharp." - Daniel Taplin
How does water meter telemetry work?
Every time a certain amount of water passes through your water meter it sends a pulse via the pulse output, which we wire to a Harvest device. We then apply a multiplier to this data to match the amount of water that has triggered a pulse, we call this the pulse rate. We can then calculate the total based on the amount of pulses received from the water meter and the flow rate based on the amount of time between pulses. From this we can get the accumulated water volume which is generally the data that councils require for resource consents - Daniel
On Site Servicing
Throughout New Zealand we have a range of service agents available to carry out on site servicing. The full list of these can be found on our website - Harvest Service Agents.
Soil Moisture Monitoring
Soil moisture monitoring provides valuable information that can be used to make irrigation decisions on your property. We are now predominantly using Acclima TDR sensors as they are easy to install, don't require calibration and provide excellent results immediately as they are inserted directly into undisturbed soil. You can read more about soil moisture monitoring in our Soil Moisture White Paper.
NZ Owned and Operated
Harvest is entirely New Zealand owned and operated, we even assemble our own circuit boards with the SMD machines shown below. We currently assemble circuit boards for 23 different products from the small temperature sensor boards to our larger ITU G2, which features 772 components. Read more about the history of Harvest here

"We put in 4 soil moisture and temp probes last year and pretty much paid for them with one decision.  We are used to it getting dry in October but the probes told me it was quite a bit drier than normal and getting worse fast.  We brought forward our planned store lamb sales by 2 weeks and this allowed us to generate a good return for these lambs.  Two weeks later and they would've been worth $30 grand less.  The original cost of the probes was repaid many times over!"
