Leopard demographics study - Panthera
The TPNR is the only reserve within the APNR (Associated Private Nature Reserves) conducting an annual leopard demographic survey.  The TPNR is also the private reserve with the longest ongoing formal scientific-based leopard survey within the province of Mpumalanga.  A total area of 21 000 ha within the central section of the TPNR is surveyed every year, with the survey lasting approximately 6 -7 weeks.  An average of approximately 3500 photos are taken during this survey period. Apart from leopard densities, the survey also delivers densities of other species such as prey, competing carnivores and human activity.
Be sure to look out for an upcoming blog which uncovers a bit more about our various research projects which are currently on the go!

Timbavati Foundation Outreach - Netted Gardens

As one of The Timbavati Foundation 's four guiding pillars, creating self sustainable and climate resilient communities, ensures that underprivileged areas adapt to the ever changing natural environment and economic difficulties.  By establishing functional netted vegetable gardens & providing borehole water, these communities will not only reap the benefits of healthy & organic diets but in time, potentially bring in a future source of income.

Great work by the Future Ranger facilitators and the Foundation team as they build their first garden for the year at Nhlangelo Primary School.
