Grade 4-5 Parent iPad Meeting: Nov 19
As part of our District 196 Technology plan, your child has had the opportunity to use an iPad at school because all 4th and 5th grade students have access to a 1:1 device. Student iPads will remain at school most evenings. This allows us to have them fully charged and here for use for equitable classroom instruction. We have collaboration to ensure we are providing appropriate supervision when students are using web-based resources and the importance of using the digital devices for teacher directed learning and communication.
As we continue through the school year, there may be days when a student has an assignment from the teacher that requires the student to bring the iPad home. The iPads will not be coming home on a regular basis, except when there is a homework expectation from the teacher.
We regularly meet as a team of 4th and 5th grade teachers and administrators, together with our District Technology Coaches, to reflect and evaluate how our norms are working and to evaluate our instructional practices.
We will be hosting a parent information meeting about the 1:1 iPads on November 19, from 5:30-6:15. During this meeting our teachers and staff will share information about how we are using the 1:1 iPads for instruction and provide some ideas for how you can support Digital Citizenship when your child is at home.
