November 17 12 p.m.: Sangha Circle
Led by Tony Boris

With the wish to free all beings, I shall always go for refuge, to the Buddhas, the Dharma and the Sangha, until the attainment of full enlightenment.

TBC Sangha Circle is a space for sharing, connection and support for sangha and friends.  The group meets twice a month on Sundays from 12 to 1pm, shortly after our Sunday Morning Sangha.  Our format is borrowed from a number of beautiful, time honored traditions.  After introducing ourselves, we begin with a short dharma reading or quotation to soften the heart and stimulate insight, followed by a brief silent meditation, and then open the space to personal sharing on anything of meaning  All shares are confidential.

The intention is to allow our practice of dharma to extend beyond the mat, to become part of the way in which we understand, communicate, and move through our everyday lives. Also, to support our sangha jewel, which creates other benefits too numerous and vast in scope to even list.

November 24, 2019 12 p.m.: Kalyana Mitta Q&A

On Sunday November 24th our Sunday Sangha meeting will be an open forum with three members from the Kalyana Mitta team: Sue Passante, Elazar Aslan, and Vicki Cahill. The Sunday Sangha meets after the morning service, and sangha members will have a chance to ask any questions they want related to Buddhism and to hear various opinions from these three members of the Kalyana Mitta.  We all have questions we wonder about and it can be helpful to hear different viewpoints.  It can also be helpful to hear what questions our friends are asking.  So please join us. The phrase “kalyana mitta” comes from the Pali Buddhist texts and means admirable friend or admirable companion.  In the Buddha’s time it was a common practice for more senior students of the Buddha to help the more junior students with their questions. This was a mentoring relationship and the senior students were called kalyana mitta. To learn more about this program, visit the Center’s website and look at the “About Us” tab.
THURSDAY NIGHT MEDITATION

Join us Thursday nights from 7 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. for drop-in meditation. After sitting in meditation, each practice leader will then lead some discussion or a Q&A or even a reading from a book. Whether you are an advanced meditator or just beginning your interest in meditation, you will find sitting with a group will create a strong energy for your practice. This is an opportunity to deepen your commitment to yourself and through the support of others, begin to reduce the suffering in your life and in the lives of others.  We look forward to having you join us.

Note: There is no Thursday Night Meditation on November 28 - Happy Thanksgiving!

Full Day Silent Meditation

The retreat will run from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with both sitting and walking meditations.  A Sangha member will facilitate the retreat.  (Please note the meditation sessions are not guided.)  Noble silence begins at 10:00 am and is observed throughout the day.  Tea will be provided.  You may leave for lunch or bring your own.
