Our mission is to create a place to encounter Jesus. Steeped in love and Catholic teachings, we provide strong academics to foster continual learning in mind and spirit.

Dear SJB Families,

What a week! Thank you for helping with the visit from our accrediting association. Thanks to the many who helped keep them comfortable by providing delicious food, and to all of who shared your stories with them. The team had many commendations for our school including...
  • positive environment
  • good internal/external communications
  • forward-thinking regarding enrollment research and planning
  • planning to satisfy needs by establishing a kindergarten readiness class & splitting third and fourth grade combined class
  • shared values among staff and leadership
  • united leadership between ministries
  • teacher and staff commitment to students
  • administrative work in getting ready for accreditation
We will be rewriting our strategic plan for improvement to address our current challenges of low enrollment and sustainability. When this is ready the plan will be evaluated by the School Advisory Council. Our school community will also receive yearly updates on progress according to our established objectives.

The Change Wars fundraiser for the Friends of San Lucas Mission continues through tomorrow. Stay tuned to hear how much we raised for the mission's school, Colegio Monseñor Gregorio Schaffer!

We did it! We earned a $4,000 grant from the Catholic School Center of Excellence by increasing our K-6 enrollment! This money will be used to provide further professional development for our teachers in order to increase instructional excellence!
We celebrate this achievement with YOU! One of the most powerful ways to increase enrollment at St. John's is by our families sharing the great experiences they've had as members of our school family! Thank you!

This week in STEM education at St. John's students worked with Dash Bots. Dash Bots are programmable robots. Coding devices varied based on the grade level. First-grade students used coding puzzle boards to code the robot's movements, while older students used Ipads.

Grades 4-6 visited the Minnesota Zoo on Tuesday to get a jump start on their heir biggest STEM Project of the school year.  Students will be redesigning the current Nocturnal Hallway with a new ‘Creatures of the Canopy’ theme to include the Zoo's resident sloths and Burmese python along with a few new rainforest species.

Our kindergarten class worked with the new STEAM Kit from ZomeTool. Students built models of structures, including one representing our church building!
The Catholic Schools Center of Excellence is sponsoring a talent show for our Catholic school students! See the poster below and visit the event's website at https://www.shineontalent.org/ for more information!
St. John's is a drop off location for Blankets Because We Care. It has also been a fun tradition for our 2nd-grade students and older buddies to make blankets to donate. Donations of fleece fabric suitable for making tie blankets can be brought to the school office.
