The Cast of The Arabian Nights
Performances:

November 24 - 2:30pm

"True prayer lightens the heart." What emerges as a beguiling piece of storytelling, Mary Zimmerman’s The Arabian Nights retains the classic legend in which Scheherazade delays death by telling a nightly tale to a murderous king. She also proves the power of the cliffhanger, either by leaving her hearer in suspense, or artfully allowing one story to fold into the next. In this world, the coarse and the miraculous coexist, and the magic of storytelling holds the power to change people. "If you want theatre at its most unpretentiously poetic, most fetchingly stylish, as humane as it is elegant, I commend to you The Arabian Nights." (New York Magazine)

Please note: this is not the story of Aladdin, nor is it children's theatre. It is a wonderful, fantastical, and intriguing stage adaptation of many of the legendary stories that were created and curated in the Middle East in the 8th through 13th centuries. Recommended for teenagers and older.
