Love God ~ Seek Peace ~ Build Community ~ Welcome All
Dear Friends of Richmond Congregational Church,

Saying ‘thank you’ is more than just being polite.  ‘Thank you’ means we value the gift and appreciate the sacrifice of the giver.  We recognize that we live in community, where the contribution of each is recognized and honored.   ‘Thank you’ unites giver and receiver in mutual respect.  Blessings come only when we share resources and care for all of God’s children.

This Sunday is Thanksgiving Sunday.  We gather as the people of God to give thanks for our many and abundant blessings.  During our morning worship service I will return to the topic of food.  My sermon will be “Food and Feasting.”  Celebration nearly always involves food.  Meals are not just a time to receive nourishment, but also to enjoy the company of others and to rejoice in the goodness of God’s world.

At 4:00 in the afternoon we gather with friends in Richmond and Williston at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Williston for our annual Thanksgiving Community Service.  Our Choir will be singing and I will be offering a brief Meditation.  I hope you are able to come and unite with us in worship of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Grace,
Neal Sadler, Parental Supply Pastor

We need your help!

Kathy Kort, Peter Swaine, and Phyllis Modley of the nominating committee are currently updating and recruiting for positions elected by the church. All of you give so much volunteer time to the church to keep it growing and making a difference in the community. We have openings on the council, trustees, pastoral relations, stewardship, outreach and deacons.

If you’d like information on any of these please contact us or the church office. We have detailed descriptions of what the time and focus for some positions are and can share these. Thanks for all you do!

A note from our friends at Williston Federated:
In the aftermath of the Halloween rainstorm this year, the basement area of the historic, 150-year-old section of Williston Federated Church (which houses a daycare facility) filled with several inches of standing water on the morning of November 1.  Since that time, a faithful band of volunteers from our church have been working daily with the clean-up and repair of this space.

This volunteer effort has been spearheaded by Tony Lamb, Chair of the Trustees of our church.  (Tony can be reached via email at stolat136@gmail.com.)  Tony has outlined the following tasks underway and going forward:
--rebuilding walls;
--hanging sheetrock; and
--painting walls.
(At some point, laminated flooring will be laid as well.)

Our volunteer work crews typically get underway around 9:00 a.m. each day. For more information--or to indicate when you might want to volunteer--contact Tony Lamb at stolat136@gmail.com.

Thank you again for your willingness to explore the possibility of offering help.

Appreciatively,
Rev. Paul Eyer

Richmond Congregational Church, UCC in Richmond, VT is sponsoring a Mission Trip to Nosara, Costa Rica in February 2020 where our 20 volunteers will be working with Mercy Home Ministries to build a house or two for local families. In 2018 we built two homes in Nosara and had trip participants from Maine, Ohio, Wisconsin, Illinois and Vermont!

Stay tuned for additional ways you can support this wonderful mission!
