Cozy up with Kokopelli!

Every December, Kokopelli hosts Edmonton’s largest seasonal choral concerts. This year, we present seven ensembles of all ages, for a total of almost 400 singers. Wintersong fills historical McDougall United Church with music Saturday, December 21, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Both concerts will embrace a wide array of holiday music and traditions—with the afternoon concert including the abundant charm of our youngest ensembles. Highlights include Kokopelli performing Allison Girvan’s moving arrangement of “Christmas in the Trenches,” and then some inspired silliness—followed by some exquisite Mozart—from Òran, plenty of creative choreography from Shumayela, and Vacilando shares a hauntingly beautiful Norwegian carol in a folk style. The 7 p.m. show will also feature the latest performance by ChandraTala, our brand-new ensemble for upper voices.

For a rousing finale, our choirs are looking forward to premiering a commissioned arrangement by ChandraTala conductor Laura Hawley of “The First Snow of the Year” by Canadian singer-songwriter Hawksley Workman.

Wintersong takes place at 2:00 and 7:00 p.m. Saturday, December 21 at McDougall United Church (10025-101 Street NW, Edmonton). Tickets ($25 adults, $20 students, $15 ages 7-12, 6 and under are free with ticket and accompanied by an adult) are available at Tix on the Square (tixonthesquare.ca), from choristers, and at the door.

Let the music soar this Giving Tuesday!

The Kokopelli Choir Association is a registered non-profit society and relies on both public and private funding in order to keep the music going. Your help can make all the difference for a young singer. In this season of plenty, it's wonderful to remember to give back to our community.

We accept donations in person or by mail via cash or cheque, with tax receipts issued for all donations over $20. We are also pleased to accept donations online, with either a one-time gift or a monthly amount in support of our work.
