According to the Race to Submit Leaderboard tool developed by the California Student Aid Commission to track financial aid submission rates across the state, Terra Linda is currently ranked number 5 in the state in the 201 - 325 category (size of senior class.) This has never happened before and we couldn't be more thrilled!

TLHS is also currently ranked number 1 in Marin County for financial aid completion. Thank you for your continued support in financial aid completion efforts. We are so appreciative of the level of engagement and enthusiasm at Terra Linda High School.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is working with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), state health departments, and public health and clinical partners to investigate the multistate outbreak of lung injury associated with use of e-cigarette, or vaping, product.

November 13, 2019

Dear San Rafael High School Community,

We want to update you on developments regarding the recent social media threats to San Rafael High School (SRHS).

On Monday evening, Nov. 11, the San Rafael Police Department (SRPD) arrested a juvenile related to the threatening postings and he was booked into Marin County Juvenile Hall. Over the past several days, the SRPD has been conducting a thorough investigation, in coordination with officials at SRHS, San Rafael City Schools and the various social media platforms companies. Today, the San Rafael Police Department shared that their close review of evidence strongly supports that the suspect arrested on Monday was acting alone. The police have determined that the suspect was not in possession of nor had access to firearms.

The suspect is a SRHS student. He will remain in custody until the case is processed, and we will continue to work with the SRPD and District leadership on the next steps. School discipline matters are confidential, but we want to emphasize that the student will face appropriate consequences. We will follow our disciplinary guidelines under the Education Code. In making any decision, we consider the nature of the act, the impact upon the community and the danger posed to the safety of students and staff.

We recognize that social media threats created an atmosphere of heightened fear and anxiety. Some of you chose to keep your child home over the last few days. We hope that your student will attend school tomorrow. Recognizing that it will take some time for the climate to return to a sense of normalcy, we will continue to have heightened security tomorrow.

We remain vigilant in identifying and addressing all safety risks to our students and the greater community. Keeping students and staff safe at our schools is of paramount importance, and we appreciate our partnership with SRPD on all matters relating to safety and security. We have and will continue to take proactive steps to ensure safety, which includes: working closely with a local emergency preparedness expert; practicing various emergency drills and analyzing the next steps; continually communicating with law enforcement; re-examining our safety plans; participating in countywide emergency meetings; and more. We will be scheduling a forum for parents and others to share and discuss our current practices related to school safety - please stay tuned for more information.

If you have any questions, please contact 415-485-2330. Thank you for your continued support of San Rafael High School.

Sincerely,

Jim Hogeboom
