Adult Day School Team's Drop In Session

On October 21st, the York University TD Community Engagement Centre’s Adult Day School Team hosted an “Adults Transitioning to Post-Secondary Drop-In Session.” The zoom drop in session offered adult students from Emery Adult Learning Centre, Yorkdale Adult Learning Centre, and City Adult Learning Centre, an opportunity to ask any general or specific questions regarding post-secondary and the transition process. The event was well attended, with questions being answered about OSAP, application processes, York University supports, York University resources, and programs.

POST-SECONDARY EDUCATION

Take Our Kids To Work

This year's Take Our Kids to Work event consisted of a about 90 students with 80% coming from the local Jane Finch/Black Creek area. Take Our Kids To Work is an annual event. This year,  due to  COVID-19 restrictions, TOKTW Day took place virtually as a conference-style event where students were able to sign up and attend different sessions throughout the day based on their interests. Each session included background information on the topic/field, explored different careers and educational pathways, as well as interactive activities and gave students the opportunity to ask questions. The program is open to all University community members and you are encouraged to join us next year!

"Count Yourself In" Event

On November 25th, the York University TD Community Engagement Centre worked in collaboration with the council of Educators of Toronto, the City of Toronto, Humber College, and Seneca College to host the “Count Yourself In: Pathways to Post Secondary Education, Access, and Training Virtual Event.” The workshop was geared towards offering supports and resources to mature and adult students with an attendance of over 600 participants. The workshop included a keynote by Yvette Munro, a Question and Answer period with all of the schools, and covered the topics of academic pathways, access pathways, and ways to finance post-secondary education.
