We are waiting for this cold streak to break to let them thaw and see what we can get.
The turnips will be fine when the ground thaws enough so that we can dig them out of the soil.
I wonder how the leafy veggies are fairing under the plastic? The plastic is frozen shut so we haven't even checked on them.
Growing and harvesting in late fall is a tricky business. Sometimes we have mild weather all they way until December. Other years we have frigid Novembers.

Yeah, that's a great idea! Next week we are heading to Colonial Williamsburg with the kids for several days. It will be good to get away from the chores for a few days. Andres will be in charge of all the milking, feeding and watering the animals, picking vegetables when it warms up and packing Fall Share boxes.
But while the farm is slowing down, the cows keep producing milk so Steve keeps making cheese. In fact, all the hard work is paying off. Our aged cheeses are ready to be enjoyed!
