Opportunities for the Week...

The men’s group, Society of the Sons of God (SoSoGo), will have their next breakfast meeting tomorrow, Saturday,  16 November, at 8:30am in Fellowship Hall.  The men's group gets together monthly for fellowship, food and light chores.  Anyone is welcome!
Our Survey of the Bible Class meets monthly, on the third Sunday, so the next class will be this Sunday, 17 November, from 11:30am until 12:30pm, in the nursery area.  Becca will be discussing the book of Genesis.  Notes from the last class (10-20-19) are available here.
Our Missions Board Thanksgiving & Christmas collections are well underway.  We are moving on to our Christmas collections now. Angel Tree tags will be available on Sunday, 17 November.  All donations can be left in the bins in the hallway outside the Mayflower Room.  Our Christmas Food Drive will begin on 1 December (with donations due in to church on 15 December), and our Angel Tags (in which we donate gifts for needy children) will be available 17 November (with donations due back on 8 December.  Let me put all it in chronological order...

17 Nov   Angel tags available
1 Dec     Christmas food drive tags available
8 Dec     Angel Tag items due back at church
15 Dec   Christmas food drive donations due at church

Hopefully that makes everything more clear!  Thanks for your continued support throughout the year, and especially at the holidays!
Hanging of the Greens, etc…
Christmas is much closer than you might think, although with the snow on Thursday maybe it’s just exactly as close as you were thinking.  Regardless, we have some Christmas decorating that needs to be done soon.  Because of the way Thanksgiving and Advent land on the calendar this year, we will be splitting our Hanging of the Greens project over two days.  On the first day, Friday, 29 November, we will decorate the Sanctuary and the Mayflower Room.  We will serve a pizza and pop dinner at 6:00pm, and start decorating about 7:00pm.  Phase 2 of our Hanging of the Greens will start after church (12:00pm) on Sunday, 1 December.  Enjoy a hearty coffee hour that day, and then join us for decorating Fellowship Hall for the Tea.

And speaking of the Tea… A little ditty for you to get stuck in your head…to be sung to the tune of “Christmas is Coming”…
Christmas is coming, and so’s the Christmas Tea; please put some cookies in your freezer for me; please put some cookies in your freezer for me!

Christmas Tea season is also just around the corner!  This year's Christmas Tea is Friday, December 6th and Saturday, 7 December. During The Tea we serve between 400 and 500 dozen homemade cookies, and pour 1500 to 2000 cups of coffee and tea, so now is also the time to start baking tea cookies for the Tea weekend!  We need all kinds of small-ish Christmas cookies, bars or balls.  There will be a sign up sheet in the sanctuary and Mayflower Room shortly for working at the Tea itself, but in addition to the Hanging of the Greens help noted above, we need some volunteers for pre-washing tea cups and cookie plates, and organizing the kitchen on 1 December.  Sign up sheets will be in the sanctuary starting this Sunday, 10 November.
The Geneva Green Market is once again up and running in the church's Fellowship Hall.  You can find fresh, local, organic eggs, meats, greens and root vegetables, breads and baked goods, quiches, tarts, honey, coffee beans (not locally grown, locally roasted), sauces and canned goods, hot foods and all natural personal care products every week, on Saturdays from 9am to 1pm, from November through April.  Come down and have a steaming hot bowl of soup or a few empanadas with some Bolivian lasagna (which resembles lasagna only in name), and get your healthy grocery shopping done for the week!
