Outreach: The Triad Labor Trafficking Task Force at the Dixie Classic Fair
Labor trafficking happens at fairs and carnivals in North Carolina and across the U.S. The Triad Labor Trafficking Task Force, in partnership with World Relief staff and volunteers, shed light on this fact at the 2019 Dixie Classic Fair.
The October outreach educated over 250 fair-goers about labor trafficking. Additionally, over 75 fair workers received information about the National Human Trafficking Hotline and were engaged regarding their working conditions and the issue of human trafficking. This new effort reinforced that labor trafficking occurs right here in the Triad. World Relief staff identified a fair worker who was being labor trafficked. The individual cooperated with staff and local law enforcement to provide information about the trafficking situation and received assistance to leave the situation and move forward.

We thank our volunteers and the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office for their support during this new outreach endeavor! visit our website to learn more about human trafficking >>

‘Take A Number,’ The Prolonged Experience of a US Asylee
Many asylum-seekers must wait months to make their claim, unsure of whether they will be approved. World Relief’s Mark Lamb visits a small Baptist church on the Mexican side of the U.S.-Mexico border that seconds as a safe haven for these asylum seekers. read more about Mr. Lamb's journey here >>

Have you logged your volunteer hours?
As a non-profit, recording volunteer hours is essential to the funding and impact of our programs. Unfortunately, only 1/3 of our volunteers log time and mileage. Volunteer Hours have recently increased in value to $25.43 an hour and help us raise a cash match for our programs. By logging your hours, you're helping us serve more people in more ways - thank you!

A great way to partner with WR Triad is by praying with and for us! This month, we're seeking prayer for...
  • our new arrivals joining us in the Triad this week! That they may feel welcomed, cared for, and safe in their new community
  • ongoing impact as a result of the Triad Labor Trafficking Task Force's outreach at the Dixie Classic Fair - that our community would grow in awareness and action, and that individuals in trafficking situations would find freedom and support (and praise for the impact we've already seen!)
  • our clients for whom the holidays can be a reminder that they are far from home and family - that they would experience safety, warmth, hospitality, and community in this season
  • God's generous provision as we continue to serve our local community and international neighbors
The Lord hears his people when they call to him for help. - Psalm 34:17
Did you know you can give to WR in someone's honor? Give the gift of giving back by donating in a friend or loved-one's name this holiday season. Just select, "This gift is in honor, memory, or support of someone," when you make your donation.

Polaris Project: Take Action – Protect Legal Immigrant Farmworkers

The exploitation of persons on temporary work visas (H-2As) is prevalent in the agriculture industry. The US Department of Labor has proposed measures that would worsen conditions for these migrant workers, potentially making them vulnerable to human trafficking. Help us protect legal migrant workers by quickly signing this Polaris Project petition >>
