Thanksgiving Break Important Reminders

 

Happy November! Although Thanksgiving may still seem light years away, it is fast approaching! Below are some important dates and reminders for you and your student to prepare for Thanksgiving Recess.
 
University Closure:

  • Rutgers University — New Brunswick will be closed for Thanksgiving from Thursday, November 28th through Sunday, December 1st. Offices will not be open and there will be no classes during this time.
     
Residence Life:
  • ALL halls will remain open during Thanksgiving Recess. If your student plans on leaving campus, please click here to review important checklist items for vacating residence halls. 
 
Changes in Class Days:
  • Please note that Tuesday, November 26th will follow a THURSDAY class schedule, and Wednesday, November 27th will follow a FRIDAY class schedule. Please be sure to check in with your student to see how this will impact their travel plans if they are coming home for break.
 
Dining Hall Closures:
  • Dining halls will be closed on Wednesday, November 27th at 6pm and will not reopen until Sunday, December 1st at 4pm. If your student plans to stay on campus during Thanksgiving break, please be sure they make meal arrangements during this time. Outside vendors affiliated with RU Express will still accept RU Express as a form of payment.


No More Hungry Knights!


No More Hungry Knights! Does your student have extra guest meal swipes? Consider donating up to 2 swipes for the Rutgers Food Pantry Charity Program for Rutgers- New Brunswick students struggling with food insecurity.

Students can go to
secure.rutgers.edu/food and choose Letter B under Forms to donate to the charity.

Resident/Apartment Assistant Recruitment


Do you know a student who would make a great Resident Assistant at Rutgers UniversityNew Brunswick? All candidates must attend an information session in order to apply. Resident Assistants form the face and the voice of Residence Life at Rutgers UniversityNew Brunswick. As such, all RA/AAs must be committed to our mission, which is to foster and inspire strong, inclusive communities; encourage and support students in their academic, social and personal growth; help students develop skills to succeed in a diverse, global society; and promote the appreciation of diversity. Zimmerli Museum Updates


See, Hear, Touch: Art for the Senses
Join us for back-to-back concerts this weekend! On November 16, New Brunswick Chamber Orchestra (NBCO) performs Mythos, a program of string quartets inspired by ancient legends. On November 17, Music at the Museum is inspired by the current exhibition Dimensionism: Modern Art in the Age of Einstein. Both events are free, but popular, so seating is often limited. Please

Stop by a NEW
Holiday Pop-Up Shop on November 22 and 23. The event features unique gifts designed by artists, including Mason Gross students, faculty, staff, and alumni. (Become a Zimmerli member to receive an invite to the preview reception on November 21!)
 
A Celebration of the Books of Vladimir Radunsky features illustrations from four of his children's books, including the recently released Mother Goose of Pudding Lane. Chris Raschka, who authored the book, stops by the museum on November 23. The program is free, but an RSVP is requested.
 
Register now for the next Saturday afternoon adult workshop, Winter Watercolors with Tom Rutledge, on December 7. Improve skills or learn new techniques by creating a winter landscape. Workshop is open to all - regardless of artistic experience - and supplies are provided. $45 general public / $40 Zimmerli members. (Or, a special offer if you sign up with a friend.)
 
Save the Dates: Study All Night, when the Zimmerli remains open 24+ hours straight for Rutgers students to prepare for finals, returns December 12 and 13.
 
The
Zimmerli Art Museum is located at 71 Hamilton Street on the College Avenue Campus. Admission to the museum, as well as the programs listed, are free and open to the public. Follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for updates! HOLIDAY HOURS: The Zimmerli is closed Thursday and Friday, November 28 and 29. The museum is open regular hours Saturday and Sunday, November 30 and December 1.

Late Knight

Late Knight is a consistent late-night programming initiative out of Student Involvement within the Department of Student Centers & Activities. We aim to provide fun, safe, and engaging opportunities for students every Friday night in one of our Student Centers. Events are completely FREE to our Rutgers – New Brunswick students and occur every Friday from 9PM – 1AM while classes are in session. Events range from movie nights, comedy shows, trivia, bingo, student center “takeovers” with novelties and inflatables, themed nights, open mics, and so much more.
