Psst, I have some secrets for you. Want to have all your social posts laid out before Christmas? It can take as little as a couple of hours and can save you SO much time in the New Year.  Do you ever struggle to come up with content for posts? Not anymore!

The 80/20 Rule was once the golden rule of effective social media marketing. It states that 80% of your social media posts should inform, educate, and entertain your audience, while only 20% should directly promote your business (Source: Inc.com). So start there. Put it on a sticky note in front of you to remind you not to oversell your business. Then you need to gather your sources for content:
  • Blog Posts can be from your corporation's blog, it does not have to be yours personally if you do not have a blog. However, we strongly suggest blogging ;)
  • Inspiring Content like quotes, images, content that resonates and strikes a nerve or a heartstring.
  • Tips & Tricks little tidbits, helpful information that can quickly be digested and helps the reader. Think of the questions you get asked the most or information that the public may not know about but should.
  • Questions that are quick to answer and encourage discussion.
  • Contests and Giveaways are always popular just be sure you are doing them properly. Here is a great article on the dos and don'ts 20+ Creative Social Media Contest Ideas and Examples
  • Promos that you might run throughout the year, sales, discounts offered, freebies.
  • Holidays and Special Occasions like Christmas, your company's anniversary, new employees, events your attending etc.
Once you have outlined some content ideas it is time to map it out. I use Google Calendar for mine and have created a new calendar which is for all of my marketing. Then lay it all out, use different colours to identify things like special occasion, theme or topic for the week, newsletter, blog post, etc:
  1. Flag all of your holiday and special occasion posts
  2. Then lay out all of your content it doesn't have to be the actual post just what kind like Instagram, Facebook etc.
  3. Look at your analytics and map out when your audience is online to ensure you create a posting schedule that will capture the most people at a time.
Once it is all laid out you can batch create and schedule your content. The hard part is over.

There is more! If you are interested in learning more please reach out I would be happy to chat in detail about it. Think your office might benefit from an in-office workshop? Send me a message I have openings for December and the new year.
