Dear <<First Name>>,

When we gathered years ago at the Cornell Club in New York City, who knew what would come of it?

You generously shared your insights on effective instruction and on creating engaging, impactful learning experiences for faculty. Your openness to ACUE’s vision deepened our conviction that we could help many more students succeed.

That convening began an extraordinary journey for ACUE. Since that time, we’ve continued to learn through our work with thousands of faculty and administrators, directors of teaching centers, and scholars of teaching and learning.

How time flies. Today, we’re pleased to report that we've published 12 efficacy studies demonstrating that students are learning more, earning higher grades, and completing courses in greater numbers—more equitably with their peers—when taught by ACUE-credentialed faculty.

Collectively, our studies involved over 500 faculty from many disciplines and more than 17,000 students across diverse institutions. Research designs included longitudinal and cross-sectional comparisons, with meaningful and statistically significant findings.

A recent and independent review of these studies by Drew Allen, Michael McPherson, Linda Nilson, and Mary Deane Sorcinelli commended the “range, depth and rigor… that reinforce the link between faculty development, teaching improvement, and student learning.”

Just as important: faculty are enthusiastic. They’re learning together with cohorts of peers in ACUE’s online courses, often offered in collaboration with their teaching centers. They’re implementing practices across all 25 core competencies defined ACUE’s Effective Practice Framework. Overall, 94% find recommended practices relevant to refining their teaching. Today, 3,200 faculty hold an ACUE certificate, with thousands more on their way.

We’ll be discussing these findings at POD with Drew and Linda on November 15, at AAC&U with Mary Deane in January, at CHEA’s accreditors conference in January, and at AERA in April. If you’re there, we’d love for you to join the conversation.

Thank you again, and please let us know how we might honor your early support of our efforts. We regularly publish essays, papers, and book reviews to our growing network of faculty. We’d be delighted to share your latest thoughts and insights.

Best regards,
