Homecoming Wrap-Up

Maryville College alumni came “Home to Howee” to celebrate Homecoming 2019 – MC’s Bicentennial Homecoming – during the weekend of Oct. 18-20. The weekend included something for everyone: the Harvest Crafts Festival and Bake Sale, athletic events, Homecoming parade, Homecoming Choir performance, Decades Bash, children's activities, tailgates, reunions, awards ceremonies and the Founder's Day & Bicentennial Celebration.

Looking for a great holiday gift? It’s not too late to order your copy of Maryville College: Noble, Grand, and True for Two Centuries. The book is also available at the MC Bookstore. Special pricing will be offered for one week only – from Dec. 1 through Dec. 7, the book can be purchased for $50 in person (at the MC Bookstore or at the Messiah performance on Dec. 6) or $60 online, which includes shipping.

Gibson Memoir

A book launch for Tenth Watch: Maryville College at the Millennium Mark, a memoir by Maryville College President Emeritus Dr. Gerald W. Bicentennial Video

Attendees at the Oct. 19 Founder’s Day & Bicentennial Celebration enjoyed the premiere of a video that was created for the Bicentennial to show how Maryville College, in its 200th year, readies itself and its students for next-generation challenges and opportunities. Watch the video!
David Nibayubahe ’23

From War to Peace

David Nibayubahe ’23 was born in a refugee camp in Tanzania, where his family was trying to escape the ravages of war in Africa. Now, he is thriving as a student at Maryville College, pursuing his dream of a career as a businessman. “I want to use the skills that I’m learning to help the world, to give back,” he said. Visit England & Scotland!

Ever wanted to experience the history, culture and choral music of England and Scotland? The “Of Stones and Stars” 2020 Companion Tour to England and Scotland, a trip that parallels MC's Concert Choir Spring Tour, is open to and designed for community members, faculty, staff, alumni, parents and other friends. Both tours are scheduled for May 5-15. Read more about the trip!

Mark Hall Exhibit

An exhibition by MC Professor Emeritus of Art Mark Hall is on display at the Clayton Center for the Arts this month, and a reception will be held on Nov. 15. When the exhibition is over, Hall has an interesting plan for the drawings and prints on display, as a gift to the MC community during the Bicentennial. Read more!

2020 Alumni Awards

Do you know someone deserving of an alumni award? The deadline has been extended to Dec. 15 to submit nominations for the 2020 Alumni Citation, Kin Takahashi Award for Young Alumni Award and Distinguished Service Award.

Basketball Tickets

Tickets and season passes for MC home basketball games – men’s and women’s – are now available for advance purchase at the Clayton Center Box Office or through the CCA’s online Etix ticketing platform, which allows fans to download tickets and passes on their mobile devices or print tickets at home. Dec. 3: Christmas Open House
The Blount County Alumni Association will host a Christmas Open House on Tues., Dec. 3 from 4:30 until 7 p.m. in Willard House on the MC campus. Maryville College alumni and friends are invited to enjoy beautiful Christmas decorations, delicious baked goods and holiday music. Bring your camera for photos with Santa!

Dec. 6: "Messiah" Performance 
Join us for a special bicentennial performance of Handel’s “Messiah,” brought to you by Clayton Homes, at 8 p.m. in the Clayton Center for the Arts' Ronald and Lynda Nutt Theatre. Tickets, which are $25 for adults and $20 for seniors (60 and older) and students, are available at claytonartscenter.com or by calling the Clayton Center Box Office at 865.981.8590.
