The beautiful new sanctuary at Montevallo Presbyterian Church.
A tree fell and destroyed their old building two and a half years ago.
It was a deep joy to see the new space and to help install their new pastor on Sunday.
Sunday, November 17th
Twenty-third Sunday after Pentecost

9:30 a.m.  - Service of the Lord's Day
10:45 a.m. - Sunday School for all ages
12:00 p.m. - One Day Book Club
Let us know your Estimate of Giving for 2020
Grace to you, and peace...

If you're a beloved Edgewood member who hasn't been with us for worship lately, you really need to come check in! This past Sunday we had eight brand new visitors (all young adults, if you're counting), and the new ideas and energy brought by folks who've been part of our community for less than a year is something I give thanks for daily. God is up to something here -- come reconnect with your EPC family!

On a chilly Tuesday, here's the latest from the Pastor's Study:

Fellowship Supper this week: sliders and sides. I'll be offering up part 1 (of 2) of Won't you be our neighbor? -- an adapted-for-EPC look at what I talked about at the Youth Retreat in October. We'll look at the career of the Rev. Fred Rogers, Presbyterian minister and TV neighbor to kids for four decades. There's a new film (starring Tom Hanks) coming out on November 22nd, and I hope we can rally a group to go see it together.

Thursday evening at 6:30 will be the next meeting of our new EPC Women's Group. The plan is to gather at the home of Joan Reisinger (716 Rockford Dr). You're invited to bring snacks or beverages.
You can click here to contact Joan with questions.

Sunday Worship morning brings us to the prophet Isaiah singing a love song that takes a big turn. As we receive communion, we'll ask the congregation to place their Estimate of Giving for 2020 in a basket as part of their offering to God. You can also let us know your plans by clicking on the green button above (pledges through the website go straight to the church office).

After Sunday School, we've got our One Day Book Club to discuss The Legend of Colgan Toomey by our own Dargan Ware. You can purchase a copy through Amazon - it's not too late! Bring your lunch at noon and we'll have a grand time sharing our reflection and asking the author all the questions we've got.

Coming up:
  • The Studio by the Tracks Holiday Open House -- where you can purchase artwork from Herman Hatch and many more -- will be Saturday, November 23rd from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the studio - 301 20th St S, Irondale, Alabama 35210.
  • The Homewood Community Thanksgiving Service will be Sunday, November 24th at 6 p.m. at Raleigh Avenue Baptist Church.
  • Our Advent Workshop will be on Sunday, December 1st, from 5-7 p.m. Food and helper sign-up sheets are in the narthex already!
  • If you've read the most recent Epistle newsletter, you've found out about our fun on December 8th -- Caroling for Veterans and a visit from Santa! See that Epistle or keep your eyes here for more details in the coming weeks.
  • This year's Christmas Pageant (and Bake Sale Auction) will be Sunday, December 15th, and that there's a role for every kid in the church! But we do need them on Sundays from now on to learn the music and then prepare (with a big rehearsal on December 8th). If you want to know more, please email Amber Genau by clicking here
Stay warm out there, friends.

Peace be with you,
Joe

For the rest of this month, the prayer station in our main foyer is dedicated to receiving donations for the Birmingham VA Medical Center.

We are particularly looking for: soap, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, velcro sneakers, sizes 10-13 (dollar store sneakers work well), and $5 gift cards to fast food places like (McDonald's, Jack's, or Burger King).

With a prayer of gratitude, support Veterans in need all November at EPC.
