Scouting Now, Scouting How Symposium
A New Era of Scouting:
The Boy Scouts of America has come a long way since the first troop formed in 1910. There have been many changes throughout the years - changes that reflect a growing program; changes that meet the needs of its ever more diverse membership.
Please join us for a fun morning of developing and sharing those leadership and personal scouting skills that can ensure a more successful scouting experience. This program is open to anyone interested in learning more about the Scouting program, whether you are a new Scout parent or a seasoned Adult Scouter.
Why Get Trained? Would you start a cross country road trip without looking at a Map or using a GPS? Probably not. You could probably start going in the general direction without looking at map or an exact plan. But you will probably miss an important turn or mile marker. You will waste a lot of fuel, time and energy going without a plan.
The same is true in Scouting. You have guided your scouting program in the general direction, but you have also probably felt the stress of spinning your wheels and making wrong turns here and there. So, now is the time to get trained or refresh that training and share your experience.
Once you are trained you will notice that most of the stresses of planning and leading your scouting program fade away because you now have the knowledge and tools to be successful.
Join us on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at First Lutheran Church in Onalaska for "Scouting Now, Scouting How Symposium" to learn how to navigate My.Scouting.org and other scouting related on-line programs. Cub Scout Hibernation - "Fear Factor" at the Children's Museum of La Crosse
Save the date of January 10, 2020 for the annual Cub Scouting highlight of Cub Scout Hibernation at the Children's Museum of La Crosse. Registration will be handled by the museum this year -- the registration link will be posted on www.GatewayScouting.org when that opens.

2020 Registration Fee Increase
The BSA National Council announced a membership fee increase at the end of October. At the time of the 2020 recharter, the registration and insurance fee for youth will be $64; adults will be $40.

Background Check Form Required
As part of new youth safety measures in Scouting all registered adults need to have an updated criminal background check authorization form on file. The form can be turned in to the Scout Service Center now or with your unit's recharter.
All adults rechartering must have the form on file.
