STEWARDSHIP
Stewardship letters and forms were put out at church last Sunday and will be available tomorrow morning as well. Those not picked up will be mailed out next week. A copy of the letter's content can be found below.
Please try to submit your pledge cards by November 24 so that we can prepare the budget for 2020.
Dear Friends in Christ,
Last fall, I made the following challenge to us: Beginning in 2019, let us increase our giving by 1 percent each year for the purposes of outreach, so that over ten years we may fund outreach ministry to the level of 10 percent of our budget.
By our estimates, a 1 percent increase for 2019 would provide approximately $800 for outreach. I am pleased to say that we not only met that goal, but we exceeded it by almost 20 percent, raising $950!
Can we do more? I believe we can. While we did not have one hundred percent participation, we were blessed to have some who gave more than the requested increase.
By continuing with the challenge laid before us last year, I invite us to increase our giving to outreach to 2 percent for 2020. As a reminder, I’m only asking for another 1 percent increase on the total of our giving, a second tenth of a percent of annual income for those who participated last year.
For example, if your tithe constitutes a pledge of $100 to the work of the church, I’m asking you to increase your pledge by $2 to be set aside for outreach. Based on previous years, we could have an outreach of almost $1,600 next year, and at the end of this 10-year goal years we could be giving almost $8,000 annually.
These funds are designated solely for the purposes of outreach, to help those in need in our community. With the funds we raised this year, we have already supported the work of His Hands Food Ministry, a Christian outreach which provides food along with a time of teaching and spiritual devotion twice a week on south 10th Street.
Our giving is more than just the outworking of a yearly letter from me and a signed form from you. It is life lived together ministering among each other and in the midst of those in the community around us according to God’s providence. We have been blessed that we might continue to be a blessing regardless of what the ebb and flow of each year brings to us. Thus, we are now, as ever, in need of faithful giving by each and every individual and family to the work of Trinity.
I know that many within the congregation give nearly as much as they can, sacrificially offering it to the Lord and to the work of the church. To you, I say thank you and ask that you continue to do so even as you contemplate this ongoing challenge before us. Even if you already tithe, look at what we have done this year in outreach and see if you can share with us in expanding that reach in the year to come. And if you do not yet tithe, I invite you to move closer towards the goal of giving 10 percent to the work of the church, offering the first fruits of your labors to the glory of God.
To all of us with room in our budget and our faith to increase our giving, I ask us prayerfully to do so.
Above all, let us give thanks to God for our many blessings through his Son Jesus Christ our Lord according to the fellowship we have in the power of the Holy Spirit.

PARISH NOTICES
St. Anne's Guild Meeting: The Guild will meet on Thursday, November 14, at noon. We're trying Thursday to accommodate some schedules in hopes that a couple of more folks will be able to join us.
Chili Luncheon: Be sure to have your calendar marked for Thursday, November 21, for the Chili Luncheon. Tickets are available in a basket in the Parish Hall.
Thanksgiving: Fr. Ben will be traveling to South Carolina to spend Thanksgiving with his family. Our Thanksgiving observance this year will be incorporated into the Sunday service on November 24.
Housekeeping Reminders: Please be sure to double check on the thermostats in the church and the parish hall before leaving to make sure that it is back to the "Run" setting so that it will follow the programmed schedule. Also, be sure to check on food left in the kitchen before throwing it away.
Parish Prayer List: With the coming new liturgical year in Advent, we will be resetting the prayer lists on December 1. If you see or know a name that needs to stay on, please mark it on the prayer list in the coming weeks.
Altar Flowers and Coffee Hour: Signups for 2019 are drawing to a close, and the 2020 sheets will be up in the next few days. Please take a moment to check out the altar flowers and coffee hour signup sheets. These are important ministries to our ongoing life together.

The Collect: Proper 27
O God, whose blessed Son was manifested that he might destroy the works of the devil and make us children of God and heirs of eternal life: Grant us, we beseech thee, that, having this hope, we may purify ourselves even as he is pure; that, when he shall appear again with power and great glory, we may be made like unto him in his eternal and glorious kingdom; where with thee, O Father, and thee, O Holy Ghost, he liveth and reigneth ever, one God, world without end. The Lesson: Job 19:23-27a
Oh that my words were written! Oh that they were inscribed in a book! Oh that with an iron pen and lead they were graven in the rock for ever! For I know that my Redeemer lives, and at last he will stand upon the earth; and after my skin has been thus destroyed, then from my flesh I shall see God, whom I shall see on my side, and my eyes shall behold, and not another.
The Psalm: 17:1-8

The Epistle: 2 Thessalonians 2:13-25
But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God chose you from the beginning to be saved, through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth. To this he called you through our gospel, so that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. So then, brethren, stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught by us, either by word of mouth or by letter. Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word. The Gospel: Luke 20:27-38
There came to him some Sadducees, those who say that there is no resurrection, and they asked him a question, saying, “Teacher, Moses wrote for us that if a man’s brother dies, having a wife but no children, the man must take the wife and raise up children for his brother. Now there were seven brothers; the first took a wife, and died without children; and the second and the third took her, and likewise all seven left no children and died. Afterward the woman also died. In the resurrection, therefore, whose wife will the woman be? For the seven had her as wife.” And Jesus said to them, “The sons of this age marry and are given in marriage; but those who are accounted worthy to attain to that age and to the resurrection from the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage, for they cannot die any more, because they are equal to angels and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection. But that the dead are raised, even Moses showed, in the passage about the bush, where he calls the Lord the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob. Now he is not God of the dead, but of the living; for all live to him.”
