Bayfield Books
We have a great variety of books about Bayfield and the area including Dennis McCann's This Superior Place, Mary Dougherty’s Life in a Northern Town, and Hope McLeod's Have I Got a Story For You.
For the dog lovers
This book continues the story of Bailey, the good dog whose journey started in A Dog's Purpose and continued in A Dog's Journey. This time, Bailey is joined by Lacey, another very special dog, who helps Bailey fulfill his promise over the course of several lives.
For the kids
’Tis the season for all of us to write our holiday wishlists. But everyone—even the crayons—know the best presents are the ones that you give. In this unique book, readers get to see how Duncan, the crayons, and their families celebrate the holidays. With real, folded letters from the Crayons that you can pull from their envelopes and read, games, punch-out ornaments, a poster, and a pop-up tree, this book is the perfect gift.
For the young chefs
Using kid-tested and approved recipes, America's Test Kitchen has created the baking cookbook every kid chef needs on their shelf. With sweet and savory recipes, this is perfect for kids who want to bake for themselves, their friends, or their family. In addition to the best and most delicious recipes, chapters include how-to information, step-by-step photos, and information on the science behind what makes your baked goods taste so amazing.
Gift Cards
When you can't think of what to get for that book lover in your world, one of our gift cards is the perfect thing. They are available in any amount ($5 minimum).
For the historians
Part contemporary detective story, part World War II historical narrative, this is the inspiring true story of Roddie Edmonds, a Knoxville-born enlistee who risked his life during the final days of World War II to save others from murderous Nazis, and the lasting effects his actions had on thousands of lives—then and now.
For the book lovers
Engaging and enlightening, this well-rounded collection includes Lewis’ reflections on science fiction, why children’s literature is for readers of all ages, and why we should read two old books for every new one.
For the music lovers
A celebration of the world's most seductive instrument, with large full-color photographs plus lore, players, makers, legends. Inspiring to look through, and—with a slipcase—beautiful to hold.
For the cooks
This revelatory new book from James Beard Award-winning author Christopher Kimball defines 75 new rules of cooking that will dramatically simplify your time in the kitchen and improve your results.
For the adventurers
A six-hundred-mile canoe trip in the Canadian wilderness is a seventeen-year-old's dream adventure, but after he is mauled by a grizzly bear, it's all about staying alive.
For the teens
Master storyteller Ruta Sepetys once again shines light into one of history’s darkest corners in this epic, heart-wrenching novel about identity, unforgettable love, repercussions of war, and the hidden violence of silence—inspired by the true postwar struggles of Spain.
For the scientists
Bill Bryson once again proves himself to be an incomparable companion as he guides us through the human body—how it functions, its remarkable ability to heal itself, and (unfortunately) the ways it can fail. Full of extraordinary facts and irresistible Bryson-esque anecdotes, The Body will lead you to a deeper understanding of the miracle that is life in general and you in particular.
Don't forget to join us on Saturday, December 7th for An Evening of poetry with Ethna McKeirnan & Local Poet Tom Murtha. Ethna's latest book Swimming With Shadows returns to her earlier themes of loss --of her youngest son, of her father,  and of the pervasive losses of the homeless population with whom she works. Joining Ethna this evening will be one of our store's dear friends and a local poet, Tom Murtha. Tom has been working with Ethna for some time now and will be sharing a few of his own poems. This event is free and open to the public and we will have copies of Ethna's latest book available for purchase.
