With the children checked back into school to engage in biological warfare against each other via their sick bugs, there’s space for us to assess what’s coming up in Wales and Cornwall.

We’re thrilled with how our temporary pop up in Penzance, The Vault, has turned out.  It’ll be difficult to turn our back on it when The Old Coastguard re-opens in late January but we'll just have to grit our teeth.  More on this below.

Meanwhile, across the moor at The Gurnard’s Head, Head Chef Max Wilson (newly a parent) and his team continue to give genuine pleasure to those of you who choose to eat there.  Really worth a trip between now and the end of the year.

And for some highly promising news from the kitchen in Felin Fach, scroll down a bit further.

Happy November to all of you.  Please join us when you have the chance.

DECEMBER

December at EatDrinkSleep
December at EatDrinkSleep
Is imminent.  We’ve got more going on than is arguably sensible: Wreath-Making, Village Feasts (see below), carol concerts, wine suppers, Winter Fairs.  Our calendar is here but to avoid us clogging up the system with contact details, just drop the team an email if you see something you’d like to know more about.
For those who’d like to eat with us in December, here’s a little more detail on when we’re open and what we’ll be feeding you with at The Gurnard’s Head and The Vault. For The Griffin email us here.  Each in its way perfect for pre-Christmas entertainment.

VILLAGE FEAST

The Gurnard’s Head and The Griffin lie at the heart of rural communities.  Our village feasts are intended to be an opportunity for their people to come together for good food at extremely digestible prices.

Saturday 14 December, from 12pm.
£18 a head for 3 courses and coffee. Communal tables.

Book a space here for The Griffin or here for The Gurnard’s.

NEWS FROM FELIN FACH

Felin Fach Griffin
Nick Brodie is a chef with a proper hinterland.  For the last six years, he’s headed the kitchen at nearby Llangoed Hall.  He now joins us in Felin Fach, with a task of cooking food that is truly right for a rural pub in the middle of Wales.

More to come on this shortly, but if you’d like to be among the first to enjoy his food, join us for a Winter Escape from £175 for Dinner B&B.  Dates and availability from here.

MESSAGE FROM MOUSEHOLE

We’re on track.  Aiming to re-open somewhere around the end of January or early February.  What we’d like to do is firm up a date around or just after Christmas and then encourage you to come and visit us when we re-open.

While The Old Coastguard remains closed, the team’s temporary home in Penzance, The Vault Kitchen is now open seven days a week.  It’s a top spot and it will be hard to leave it. Do visit it while we are still there.
